From 1987, one of the original house jams back in the day.
You Used to hold me, you used to please me, you used to touch me, you used to squeeze me.
One of the influential jams from that era of house music. I think this could still pop up in clubs every now and then. There have been various remixes of it over the years and i guess this is a staple of club music.
Any thoughts?

Of course. One of the undeniable classics of early Chicago House and still played to this day every once in a while at any discernible club/party. And with the recent revival that's going on with vintage house music, it makes even more sense to play it. There was also a remake released in 2000 by UK Garage/2-Step duo Scott & Leon that reached #19 on the UK Singles Chart back then.

Just dug this one out recently. I totally rediscovered this gem and fell in love with out all over again. Xaviera Gold did an amazing job doing the vocals on this one. This has been re-done and re-released. There had even been some talk of Deborah Cox re-doing this one with Tony Moran for Pride earlier this year, but it never materialized because Deborah was pregnant at the time.
I have always loved the remake Aymie Ramirez did of this. She re-did it as "You Used To F*** Me (Big Fat D***)." Use your imaginations. ;) Many have heard this remake without knowing they have. Those who have that rip of the David Morales 2003 Mix of "Dreamlover" by Mariah Carey would have heard this because some of the acapella of this song was dropped in at the beginning of that other song.

One of my favorite house records. This song is one of the signature songs of the 1980s Chicago House scene and was a staple on the mixes on urban stations 107.5 WGCI and now-defunct 102.7 WBMX (now adult UC WVAZ "V103" since 1988). However, my memory of this song was that it was often played as an old school cut on the mixes on WBBM-FM "B96", which also played the song as a 80s flashback from time to time during the 1990s. The station also played the 1994 remixes during the mix shows that year. WGCI also played this alot whenever their DJs spinned house. Other 80s Chicago house records that B96 played as gold during the 90s included Pierre Phantasy Club's "Fantasy Girl", Mr. Lee's "I Can't Forget", Mark Imperial's "The Love I Lost", Farley Jackmaster Funk's "Love Can't Turn Around" and Chip E's "If You Only Knew" (B96 actually played this one when it was new in 1987 as the station was slowly transforming into a rhythmic/dance station) B96 played the "Riviera Mix" as an old school cut on rotation since it was shorter than the "Kenny Mix". I don't know if any urban or dance-leaning top 40 station actually played "You Used to Hold Me" on rotation when it it was new back in 1987. Riviera Mix www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GwYYvWkl9E
