Oh God, I could go on for days about this one. Where to start?
Pink Floyd is good, but if you want what you're calling the "hippie" stuff you'll need to be looking at early Pink Floyd, like the albums 'Piper At The Gates Of Dawn' and 'Meddle'. You might also want to look at Fleetwood Mac's 1960s records (featuring Peter Green). Sly & The Family Stone's albums 'Life' and 'Stand' are also very important (I mention a couple of singles below). Besides being "hippie" rock, all of these discs are excellent examples of a very early version of what has evolved into Alt Rock.
The more commercial hippy stuff can be found in hit singles like these (and of course we're just barely scraping the surface here):
The Fifth Dimension - Aquarious / Let The Sunshine In
The Mamas & The Papas - California Dreamin' and Creeque Alley
The Beatles - Hey Jude, Revolution, The Ballad of John & Yoko, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band and Strawberry Fields Forever
The Rolling Stones - Jumpin' Jack Flash and Sympathy For The Devil
Sly & The Family Stone - Plastic Jim, Life and Everyday People
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Carry On and Woodstock
I may add more to the list later.

The Guess Who - Friends of Mine
Easily the best hippy song. You're probably thinking, "The Guess Who? They aren't hippy!" but this song's 10 minutes long and has some of the weirdest lyrics.

You'll note that the Hendrix version was quite a different take on the material, a fact not commonly known even among rock fans. Dylan was never one of my favortes, mainly because of his nasal delivery which irritates me, but one I wouldn't want you to miss is his Subterranean Homesick Blues, one of the very few tunes from that era to actually have a music video. For Janice Joplin, I'd suggest Me & Bobby Magee, Mercedes Benz, and from her group Big Brother and the Holding Company Piece Of My Heart.

I've seen that video... INXS pretty much copied it for the "Mediate" portion of their "Need You Tonight" clip.

I remember a record commercial on TV back in the 80s and it showed these 2 hippies. "Hey man, is that freedom rock?" "Yeah man." "Well turn it up, man."

I'm surprised no one has mentioned "San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)" by Scott McKenzie.
