Big Urban hit in 1987 for Nona Hendryx the former member of the Blue Bells with Patti Labelle. The hot crossover number was produced by one of the most influential hit making producing teams, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.
UK #60
Hot 100 #58 R&B #5

Are you familiar with her stuff in the band Material? She did a couple of great songs with Bernie Worrell and something Laswell that were Talking Headsish sounding. (in a good way.) I have (I forget) either the 12 inch single of Transformation, or the album it's from. Def great post punk stuff that should have been more popular. Back to the topic at hand, I have this 45. This was her sell out, but still a great song. And Mic Geronimo used Transformation for his late 90s hit, "Nothin Move But The Money." (produced by P. Diddy)

Good song... the video used to get a lot of play on WTMV-32 (the old UHF music video channel out of Lakeland in the mid to late '80s)

I could never understand why Nona could not get a big hit as a solo artist. Most of her stuff was top notch, this was a good single, but she has recorded better songs.

Good song. I last heard it in 2002 in Chicago when Energy FM was still on the air.

I really like this. I should get into her catalogue more, as I'm only familiar with very little of her solo stuff.

I really love this song and actually the whole Female Trouble album. Jam and Lewis went to werk' on this cut and lyrically it's excellent.

Love it. My favorite by her. Definitely has that signature late 80s Jimmy & Terry sound.

An underrated pop/R&B 80s hit as not many people know this one. Once heard this on long-defunct dance station Energy 92.7/92.5 back in 2001 or 2002. I liked it then and still like it now.

Love it. Jam & Lewis production is easily recognizable on here.
