Before she turned into the queen of raunchy R&B in the late 70's, she put out some fun mainstream hits like this one. She had a great, gritty, soulful voice. The fact that she hated her own voice is what supposedly made her stray away from this kind of music. "My Man, A Sweet Man" is a fantastic, bouncy Motown-esque tune though, from her debut album in 1972.
