#1/Pop; #1/Soul-R&B
This is one of the few hits that the late R&B singer put to #1 on both charts in 1976. About 20 years later, he re-made that song, but doesn't repeat the success of the 1976 original.

nice little mild funk tune. yet another example of a good song almost ruined by too much airplay.

I don't like this song much.
Trivia: it was the first single certified platinum (2 million copies) by the RIAA (they began platinum certs for singles and albums in 1976).

There's a new version out now that I heard not too long ago. I don't remember who sings it.

Is this Johnnie's 1996 remake of the song or was this most recent?

Is this Johnnie's 1996 remake of the song or was this most recent? For whatever reason it just came to me. I think the artist's name is Baby Drew and it was released this year. It's under Cool New Music at Urban.

Aaron, are u 100% sure of this? I thought it was "Love Will Keep Us Together" by Skippy and Toni? I love this song BTW, it was one of the raciest singles I had heard when I was 12, and had a great sexual feel to it. Would love to find this on a CD.

Never liked this song. Highly overrated. His style was similar to other soul/funk artists of the time that I like, but I know of no song by him I like. He covered one of my favorite songs: "I Wanna Testify", but I much prefer the original from 1967 by the Parliaments (precursors to Parliament/Funkadelic)

This was the #3 song of 1976? I've never heard it, which is pretty surprising especially for a disco song. Not bad, but there are more memorable disco classics out there IMO.
