I can't even remember where or when I first heard this song, but I know it's one of the first pop songs I ever knew. I have it on '45.
I remember one time going to my Grandma and Grandpa's when I was a little kid. My Uncle was parked in the driveway, sitting in a lawn chair next to his Bronco, listening to this song on his 8 Track player, and yes, he was drinking a beer. I thought this was soooo funny.
Anyhow one of my favorite childhood songs. I liked the very end of the song:
"The water was clear and tasted like beer, then they turned it all into wine. Awwwww! I like beer. It makes me a jolly good fellow. I like beer. It helps me unwind, and sometimes it makes me feel mellow. Makes him feel mellow. Whiskey's too rough, champaign costs too much, and vodka puts my mouth in gear. This little refrain, should help me explain, as a matter of fact I like beer. Yes he loves beeeeeerrrr."
