I honestly don't know anything bad to say about this one, which almost made the top 10 (should have!!), and is his most successful to date. It's maybe slightly too short (as is his album), but it's to the point and just rocks, so I couldn't really hate it. This was the first VAST song I heard, and I had this one stuck in my head for quite a long time when it was out.. I eventually started buying VAST albums and fell in love with them. The lyrics are great, too. "I want to hold air in my hand/own the one thing you can't buy.." However, there is another problem: This artist is deserving of both critical acclaim and single success, but has neither. Shows just how un-just radio is.
One reason this comes up is that I introduced a friend of mine to this artist today, and interestingly enough, he thought it sounded like Godsmack.... And I told him how I thought it sounded like NIN and The Cure... he agreed with the latter band tho. Either way, great sounding song. The radio edit might be slightly better tho.

Well I won't let this go unanswered. This song, this video, and the album that it's on, rules.
I know his album's coming out within a few months and if "Turquoise" (or whatever the first single may be) doesn't at least outdo "I Don't Have Anything", I will be throwing things.
And I agree that the radio edit is better than the album version, for both singles. That doesn't happen very often.

Well, Elektra never should have dropped him.. Proof that artists only care about hits, which is a shame.
Now I've got to know IF 456 wants to use any money through promotion, and/or if they can do it very good.

Why did they sign him to begin with....did they really think that music like that, only which people like you and me enjoy, was going to be a big seller? I'll bet they didn't do Staind too much of a favor in ruining their career as well.

I was surprised when this single came out, first of all, by how well it did immediately, and secondly, by the fact that there weren't any samples in it.
My Memphis radio station didn't play it at all, but I saw them in Memphis, opening for Queens of the Stone Age in Sept. 2000.
And I only got to see the video when Target played it at the time.
But yeah, I love this song. Since I didn't hear it hardly at all when it was a hit, since it's so good, I enjoy it that much more whenever I listen to it.
