I remember this from kindergarten and like most people of today knew this way before the "Old Smokey" song. Who is Tom Grazer? The writer? That's definitely a fact I didn't know!

I think Tom Glazer is the singer/songwriter of the track! That's who came up when I searched for the lyrics. Till this day, I still think the song is disgusting! I remember there was a music video or some sort for it where you see little kids plant a meatball into a tree. GROSS. I like the melody of the song. P.S. I don't like pasta with meatball or meat sauce EVER. Blech.. too heavy for me.

LOL... this song was a parody of the standard "On Top Of Old Smokey"... Tom Glazer took it to #14 in 1963.

Have any of you ever heard this version?
On top of old Smokey All covered with sand I shot my poor teacher With a green rubber band
I shot her with pleasure I hit her with pride I couldn't have missed her She was forty feet wide
I went to her funeral And went to her grave Some people threw roses I threw a grenade
(some people substitute "sugar" for sand and "a green slimy booger" for "green rubberband")

The only place I ever heard the "spaghetti" version was on Barney.(*cringes at the fact that he used to watch that show*)

We used to have to sing this song either in preschool or kindygarden. I can't remember which.
Anyhoo, there aren't too many titles with "spaghetti" in their name.
