"Clouds" was definitely one of her more commercial ventures as opposed to some of her more artistic music with Rufus. It was the first single from her sophomore album, "Naughty". "Clouds" made it to #10 on Billboard's Black Singles Chart in 1980. The song was written by legendary songwriting duo Ashford & Simpson.
I really prefer Rufus over Chaka's solo career but this is quite possibly my favorite solo single from Chaka.

I like it fine, but from this album I prefer "Papillion (Hot Butterfly)". Neither is among my absolute favorites from her though.

Clouds in my coffee!
(I haven't heard this. I only know her "Epiphany" GH tracks.)

I agree, Chaka was much better with Rufus, but that doesn't stop me from loving this song.
I also remember really liking the remix that Cliville's and Cole did on her remix album. I haven't listened to that one in years, I bet it sounds hilariously dated.

Chaka's solo material > Rufus (well for me). I only say this cause her self titled album (you know the one with Be Bop Melody) is probably my fav. album of all time. Anywho, I love Clouds a lot. I love how it's obvious that Ashford and Simpson had a hand in the song too, perfect combination with Chaka.

Amazing song. I love the Clivilles & Cole remix.
Some of the ad libs and melody in this were the inspiration for Frankie Knuckles and Lisa Michaelis' "Rain Falls."

Good track but prefer others from her ("Ain't Nobody", "I Feel For you", etc.)
