Think I'll join in on the fun now...
The first song we released in the early 1980s fell short of the Top 40 but is heard on many 80s stations today. A little less than four years later, we had our only really big hit and our last song we charted with (within the Top 40) barely scraped into the countdown the same year our big song peaked.
Who are we?

I'm gonna say the Romantics, who charted big with "Talking in Your Sleep", and had their minor hit with "One in a Million". What's interesting to note here is that the uncharted song that was mentioned, "What I Like About You", got its renaissance so to speak when it was featured in a Miller Genuine Draft commercial in the summer of '89 I believe. Michael Morales then parlayed that by remaking the song in August of that year, and it wound up going to #21, but you NEVER hear that version of the song anymore (or his other hit, "Who Do You Give Your Love To"). I hope my chronology is right on the above explanation.

That was a really good one. I never would have guessed What I like About You didn't chart, it is heard all the time now.

I was wondering if anyone was going to guess Squeeze. Their chart career was much the same - had one song, "Tempted" that didn't make the Top 40 but is still played all the time today. However, there are a few differences between the two groups and their chart careers. "Hourglass" wasn't really a big hit, but it did make it up to fifteen. And "853-5937" didn't chart the same year and actually did get up into the Top 30. But still, I was waiting for someone to guess that Squeeze was the group I was talking about. Oh yeah, the Romantics was the correct answer.
