My first number one song in America hit number one in my native country almost a year before. The same went for my second hit. I came back onto the Pop charts throughout the first half of the 1990s but never really repeated the success of my first album. I sort of look like a famous children's entertainer from the 1950s.
Who am I?

Here's a request: Could we just make one topic for these so that we don't clutter the forum with Who Am I part 2560385 x 10^23?

JCMF3, your request is honored. People, please post your "Who Am I" games in this forum hereafter. Thank you.
While I'm at it, I guess I'll post another question (BTW, Rick Astley is right. The children's entertainer I was talking about is, of course, Howdy Doody.
I am a one-hit wonder from the early 1980's. My only hit barely touched the Top Ten of the R&R chart and was only a Top Twenty hit on the Billboard charts. I'm no longer alive, unfortunately and I hope that the title of my song isn't what my destiny is in the afterlife.

May I ask the next question, you don't mind do ya?
This one should be simply, however I will ask anyway.
I was born in the 1960s and started recording in the 1980s. It was not until the early 1990s that I started to hit the big time on Mainstream and MTV just as well. My music usually gets played on just about every majour format but Urban, yet I am not that frustrated by it because this about me and what I like, you feel me? I miss my mom terribly, and I should not be in the book of One Hit Wonders simply because I am not by any means nessecary.

Hint:
I was married once for a time to a Prime Time babe on one of the top sitcoms of the 1980s.

Wow this was so easy even I can guess. And since I am no good at this I will: It's Lenny Kravitz
