This was Jamelia's first major hit, peaking at #5 in the UK. Interestingly, her success with her debut album mirrored the succes of her followup, in that the first single bombed (I Do #35, 'Bout #37) and the followup was a major hit (Money #5, Superstar #3).
She was totally raved over back when this was out in 2000. It was a really exciting record. Quite like Pink's most girls, both in theme and in the use of Opera singers as backing vocals. Still this sounded really Fresh (It came out prior to 'MG' anyway) and it's nice to see that, even though it's 4 years later, she's finally living up to her initial promise.
Surprised this never went for Adds in the US. I suppose her poor album sales hindered that.

I saw the video for "Superstar" in a bar finally here in Minneapolis, and the VJ said that barely anyone knows who this woman is and I am probably the only person in that bar who did, hmm. Anyway this song here peaked at number 2 on my charts in 2001. I heard "Money" at my previous job on a "British Hits" channel on the DMX Music station that they recieve.

Great song, great video. I liked how they fused rnb and opera sounds together.
I bought "Drama" based on the brilliant singles "Money" and "Call Me." "Boy Next Door" was alright.
There was a lot of talk about Jamelia, Craig David, and Louise (with "Elbow Beach") being released in the US. I guess on Craig managed to pull through. Then again, Jamelia did get pregnant.
Also, I remember Jamelia and Craig David wanted to duet or something... or they were rumored to be a couple.

What do you think of 'Superstar' Joshjoel?
There were lots of rumours about Craig David & Jamelia, basically cos they came out at the same time and got similar hype. Samantha Mumba ended up totally upstaging jamelia though, when she came out and had far greater success as Jamelia's career seemed to fizzle.
Now of course the tables are turned....

What do you think of 'Superstar' Joshjoel? I think this is a great pop song, however I wouldn't call it pure R&B. The song is currently in the top ten (on my personal charts). Overall the song is CHR/Pop friendly especially with what's currently out on the radio.
