The lyrics.. Hopefully musically it sounds better. What ? These lyrics were allegedly written by industry "professional songwriters", so they have to be good, right ??? ;) I, too, am hopeful and confident that Kelly has worked her magic with the lyrics.

Hmmm. I was hoping the "my life would suck without you" line would be in a sarcastic tone, but I guess not. Still optimistic, though.
And although All I Ever Wanted is pretty generic, I thought Masquerade was a little too close to Circus and Funhouse.

The lyrics.. Hopefully musically it sounds better. yeah... I'm beyond disappointed with those lyrics. Kelly can't just expect us to like crappy lyrics like those after she gave us perfection with MD.

If this is Clive's idea of good songwriting, he needs to retire NOW. Hopefully Kelly will be able to work her magic on this song.

AMEN to that, but with an incredible melody/instrumental buildup and Kelly's usual phenomenal vocal, this song could very well be amaing....we just have to wait patiently :)

I'm starting to think they're deliberately trying to put Kelly in grin-and-bear-it pain - making her title her "I'll do whatever the label wants this time around" album with the title "All I Ever Wanted" rather than the title "Masquerade," which suggested she was perhaps putting on a facade. But maybe I'm thinking too much into this?
Also, the lyrics to the single...I'm not feeling them, though I'm sure the song will be catchy. I was hoping too it would be a sarcastic, kiss-off song, but going by the lyrics this isn't an angry song nor is it a straight-up "happy" song either (which I would have preferred). The lyrics seem to embody not a happy Kelly, not an angry Kelly, but rather a weak, take-back Kelly. I especially am barfing at the "We belong together now/forever united here somehow" line.
However, I guess these lyrics embody the theme of this era - doing what the label wanted this time around - especially that line "Maybe I was wrong for trying to pick a fight." That said, it bemoans me to think that while the song most likely refers to taking back an ex, the lyrics almost have a double meaning - like she is singing the song to Clive Davis and Dr. Luke, both of whom screwed her over and now she took them back, and they were even both behind this particular song! Eeek!

Eeek! If my memory is correct, Kelly wanted the album title of 'Breakaway' to be 'Hear Me', but the label changed it. Going back to the release date, since the original Popeater article mentioned that MLWSWY would be released to radio on 1/13/09 and since many people on KCE are stating that the Elvis Duran Z100 morning show is on hiatus until 1/12/09, I would not at all be surprised if the track will not "leak" or be premiered on radio until 1/12/09 or 1/13/09 if indeed Z100/NYC or KIIS/LA will premiere the song. The only thing left to tide us over is a 30 sec sample on iTunes or Kelly's website, lol.

At least in that instance "Hear Me" is more generic and "Breakaway" was still an ode to that era given she was kind of moving in a new direction at that point. This "All I Ever Wanted" title is screaming to me that Clive is just sitting behind her with a big evil smile on his face forcing Kelly to grin and bear it, thinking that doing what he wanted is all she ever wanted. Oy!

So, right now, it's basically a fact that All I Ever Wanted made it into the album. and since Kelly didn't change much, this is the lyrics to the song:
Tear up the photographs But yesterday won't let go Every day every day every minute Here comes the emptiness Just can't be lonely you know Every day every day hey hey This second-chancin's really getting me down You give and takin' everything I dreamed about It's time you let me know let me know just let go
[Chorus]
All I ever wanted all I ever wanted was a simple way to get over you, all I ever wanted all I ever wanted was an in-between to escape this desperate scene, where every law reveals the truth, baby cause I all ever wanted, all I ever wanted was you
I'd rather walk alone Don't wanna chase you around Every day every day every minute I thought a thousand times For I let you drag me down Every day every day hey hey Your new beginning was a perfect ending But I keep feeling we've already been here before It's time you let me know let me know just let go
[Chorus]
Tell me with so many out there Why I always turn to you Your goodbyes tear me down every time And it's so easy to see that they'll blame this on me
[Chorus]
better than MLWSWY. worst than everything on MD.

at MLWSWY lyrics. I'll go and listen to Sober. All I Ever Wanted and Whyyawannabringmedown are both set to be on the album. That came from Aranda, the guys who original done the songs. Also why all this Clive talk, Barry Weiss is head of the label.

All I ever Wanted will fit perfectly into Kelly's voice, why ya wanna bring me down should be a b-side, because it doesn't really fit her. Long Shot is god awful.

^^ you've heard the title track? Not on Kelly's voice, only on Aranda's voice. you can hear it on their myspace, and according to a fan who email them, they said Kelly didn't change much of the song.

'Long Shot' and 'Hook Up' are both horrid, IMO. Unless they are massively changed, I view both songs as a step backwards for Kelly in her musical career if they make her upcoming record. Reading the above lyrics written by these so-called "professional songwriters" (three of them for this song no less) and listening to most of the mindless lyrics that plagues mainstream radio gives me an even greater appreciation for the raw, personal, meaningful lyrics from 'My December'. Thank god RCA allowed Kelly to release that record !

I don't know why people are surprised at the lyrics. I mean, that's pretty much what you expect from the given songwriters. So, the real album title is "All I Ever Wanted"? Blah, "Masquerade" sounds more mysterious.

Not happy with the Aranda's songs. All I Ever Wanted really lacks energy.
Whyyouwannabringmedown is different and I look forward to hearing Kellys version, but on a whole I am being disapointed by the lack of Kellys writing credits. And before anyone comes back and bites my ass for saying this, but I just think it's such a shame after the fight she went through with MD for her not to even be allowed to write on this album.
I can't stand Clive Davis.

They are from her website -- Neally, you need to clean up the lyrics.. they're all messed up, thanks. Thanks, it copied and pasted weird, but I have fixed it :) www.popeater.com/music/article/kelly-clarkson-shares-new-singles-lyrics/293500I am fairly unimaginative when it comes to grading lyrics, but I like them MUCH better than 'Since U Been Gone' but not nearly as good as 'Behind These Hazel Eyes' or 'Never Again'. What has me uber-curious is how the track's bridge will sound knowing the lyrics, because Kelly is the queen of bridges, IMO ('Addicted', 'Walk Away', 'Behind These Hazel Eyes', 'Never Again' just to name a few). The only thing missing is the melody (and Kelly's vocals and the instruments, lol)..... ETA: The updated AOL/Popeater article used to state that the song will first be heard on the radio on Janurary 13th, but that statement has been curiously removed. Interesting....... ??? Ditto!! Now hopefully it will be as catchy as SUBG because that songs has never gotten old for me.

as for the title change, it doesn't matter to me. I like both of them ok, but I think "All I Ever Wanted" sounds much more Kelly than "Masquerade", plus I wasn't thrilled that people were talking about the whole Circus, Funhouse, Carnival Ride thing because to me that made the title "Masquerade" seem unoriginal and bandwagon jumping. Other than that the mystery of it was what I liked about it.

clive has been around for a while and he has helped many people become huge stars, even ms kelly. I think his opinion is still very valuable to the industry if they use the right promotion.

There's that word again, promotion. It looks like she's going to get it good this time as opposed to last time. I think this era is going to be awesome!.

I know it is a long way off, but what happens after the success of this era? When this era is huge (hopefully) where does it leave Kelly? Wanting to experiment again and make herself a personal album? Or will it be a forced album?
Because if she makes an album that she wants then what press (good/bad) will she recieve?
Do you understand what I am getting at?
