Bless her heart for trying. If WHine Up could barely do anything I doubt this will. Lil Wayne may help but he's not HUGE on pop so it better bet hot.

I wouldn't count her out just yet. If it's hot enough, this could do the trick. Lots of artists don't really gain steam until their "breakout" hit on a second or third album. 'Leavin' and 'Promiscuous' were hits, weren't they? I know it's a bit different, but those are the only example of counting an artist out that I can think of at the top of my head.  |

Only problem with using Jesse & Nelly as examples is that they had hits before(Beautiful Soul & I'm like a bird) whereas Kat's only "hit" really didn't do much. Anyways I hope this smashes because I always like to root for the underdog.

She is scheduled to release a new, as-yet-untitled single featuring Lil Wayne in the coming weeks.In a YouTube video posted for New Year's, DeLuna states the single is " a little bit different, but crazy," and that the sophomore album will be coming in 2009. RedOne, who produced DeLuna's debut album, "9 Lives," has confirmed he will be re-teaming with the Dominican artist. "She is the new, modern-day Selena," Red One told Billboard.com a few months ago."9 Lives" has sold 65,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen soundscan. Its lead single, "Whine Up," featuring Elephant Man, peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. Had she promoted her album and gotten the proper treatment from Epic, she would've been blowing up like GaGa. Akon is going to make sure she blows up like GaGa, I can't wait!

The Dominican pop singer, who left Epic Records last October, reveals exclusively to Latina.com that she has found another major label to call home–Universal Motown–and will drop a new single featuring rapper Lil Wayne in the first quarter of 2009. “The song is a smash,” says DeLuna, and in this video posted on YouTube after her New Year’s Eve show in Moscow , the singer adds that the single’s sound is “a little bit different…but crazy.” We’ll take that to mean a very good thing.
DeLuna is now under the wing of Universal Motown’s Executive VP, Sylvia Rhone, who’s shepherded the careers of groundbreaking female artists like Missy Elliott and En Vogue. The first pic is really disturbing, she looks really weird in an ugly kind of way.
I'm looking forward to hearing this, though.
"Whine Up" and "Run The Show" were pretty catchy but got instantly annoying after some serious listens.

I was hoping she'd come back with fire having a new label and working with Weezy, but I don't like this as much as "Whine Up" or even "Run The Show". The production has kind of a rock edge.
