I don't know if it's just happening to me but it seems that Mediabase's "What Was That Song?" pages have not been working since early yesterday. These are the daily playlists of radio stations primiarly monitored by Mediabase that are updated minutes after songs have finished playing. These are accessible as links from various radio station webpages for browsing playlists. I even use them as my main homepage when I log on to the Internet. To switch from one station to another, all that has to change are the call letters at the end of the address. For example: www.mediabase.com/whatsong/MBMusicWhatSong.asp?c_let=WHTZ-FMIt's also worth noting that the site MediabaseMusic.com is down as well, which is another way to browse this feature simply by typing in the call letters of a station. Anyways, it's been unavailable on occasion every now and then, but since yesterday and until now, nothing seems to be working. Up until early today, for each station, all that appears is yesterday's playlist updated until sometime after 4am EST/1am PST. Then around midday, I keep getting a message stating something wrong with the server and that my timeout expired. Over the last few hours, it now appears as a blank page. And even archived playlists are not accessible at this moment. I hope this doesn't mean that the playlists will only be available to paid Mediabase subscribers. I find them a lot more reliable than some of the playlists provided by the actual radio stations since they tend to skip some songs... >:(

Does anyone know if Mediabase has discontinued the rolling charts and the "What Was That Song?" updates, or is this just a bad computer glitch? If anyone subscribes to this service please post any info.

"What Was That Song?" and the online request forms are down due to server issues (per MB's site). The rolling charts are still up, I still have access to them.

I actually have access to online request forms for each station, and they're even updated daily. I've been relying on those a lot more since "What Was That Song?" has been down since earlier in the week. BTW, thanks very much for not only filling us in on what's been happening with Mediabase these past few days but also providing us with charts. It's greatly appreciated by everyone on this board. :)

Well I for one am glad that this is just a server issue. I was starting to wonder if the Clear Channel layoffs had something to do with Mediabase discontinuing the rolling charts as a cost cutting measure! Glad to hear that's not the problem. :) Hopefully the year to date charts will be updated later this morning as always.

Is there any latest word on the status of Mediabase's server and when "What Was That Song?" will be back up and running again? Also, MediabaseMusic.com is still down.

allaccess is back up and working, so perhaps "What Was That Song" will also be fixed shortly.

It is kind of strange. I've experienced the same thing as well. Presumably some of them do work at least with radio stations whose updated playlists are being powered by Mediabase. There are also those few that do use Mediabase but open up a window to nothing but a blank page. As for looking up the stations, I honestly can't explain why. It's been like that now since last Monday. I really liked accessing them because you could easily switch from one station to another just by typing in the call letters at the end of the address. There were even archived playlists from the last five years where all you had to was just change the month, date, and year and it was available for browsing. For instance, if you wanted to see Z100 New York's playlist back on any given date like October 16, 2007: www.mediabase.com/whatsong/MBMusicWhatSong.asp?c_let=WHTZ-FM&MONDTE=10%2F16%2F2007Until it went down last week, Mediabase might have actually removed all daily playlists between 2004 and 2006, because when I tried to access them, I got a message reading "No data is available for that station". And the MediabaseMusic.com site remains down. It's going to be a while, if ever, before "What Was That Song?" will be back to normal again. >:(

Maybe someone can send those links to all the stations like Made of Steel has... they look a little funny, but at least they work!

Couldn't say so more myself. It's depressing every time I open a window to my home screen showing absolutely nothing instead of a full list of songs that played on my station in the last few hours. Thankfully I still have a radio recorder on hand to keep track of all the songs my station has played over the last few weeks - or if not, I can always play it back and recognize the songs. The playlist on my station's website is just a horrendous mess. Songs tend to be skipped, and some of the songs actually listed there are either wrongfully mistaken for others that have since been dropped and not been played as far back as the 1990s or for other current songs. "My Life Would Suck Without You" is listed as "If I Were a Boy". "Beautiful" by Akon is listed as "The Voice Within" by Christina Aguilera.

Unless someone comes up with a list of all those links paired up with each station being monitored by Mediabase. One common thing about those links are the final nine digits: 045070077 In each link, there are 21 digits and every third digit is a zero starting from the left. I've tried playing around with some of the digits that are not zero, except for the final nine to see whatever links I can come up with. And all I get is this: The What Song Was That? feature is only available to affiliate stations. Please contact your station's affiliate rep. As much as I would like to have this, I'd rather wait for the problem to fix itself.

Well, you can go www.yes.com if you desperately need to see what was played on pretty much any station... the current version's not too friendly with IE or Firefox though. I truly wish they had never messed with the old version as the new one has lots of bugs. :(

Well this sucks. I really like seeing what was played. Can I ask about these links above. How can you look for a specific station...is there a master list of links?

I'm pretty sure there are a few U.S. pop chart panel "reporting stations" across the border that are on there, but as for regular Canadian stations, I don't know.

Wow...the site is actually back up and running! This is actually some good news in a while and a step in the right direction. I still prefer however the old page where all you had to do was type the station's call letters in the search box and it would link you to a page containing the daily playlist for the station in question. Then from the web address, you can easily browse other stations just by replacing the call letters and access updated playlists from previous days over the last 2 years or so by changing the date/month/year. But still, this is better than nothing. And maybe, those simple links for What Was That Song? (instead of those complex multidigit numbers) will be fixed very soon. Thanks for the info, DiegoMarcoCMM!
