Yep, #5 today, as predicted. Doing the happy dance this morning.  The overnight spin increase is smaller than I would have liked. I was hoping this song's total spins would have been over 8000 this morning. Just missed. Oh well, gotta go where the numbers tell us, and besides, all that TV promo next week might give MLWS enough of a boost to kick it the rest of the way to the top. Anyway, based on today's numbers, it would take 5.8 days for MLWS to reach #3. Circus, Heartless and Sober all cling to tiny positive bullets, which doesn't help MLWS while its spin gains are also slowing down. Behind it, Right Round is 312 spins away from the #7 spot, and Dead And Gone is 132 spins out of #9. |

This song has been having such yo-yo updates, +45 then +100 then +60 then +120 then +50. Stabilize already!

I wonder if it has something to do with the calculations Mediabase uses to update daily. Otherwise what the yo-yoing seems to indicate is that stations play this song a lot one day, then not a lot the day after, then a lot the third day, and so on. On the surface, that doesn't seem to make much sense, but then, my knowledge of how radio works these days is barely above nil. |

^Really? Plenty of songs have gone to #1 without repressed downloads and they weren't all lead singles. Not as quickly as Kelly. |

Kelly did it quicker. LWS premiered on January 13th and was put on iTunes a week later. Brit had over a week of airplay behind her once Womanizer was put on iTunes, Kelly didn't.

She needs to maintain a good lead on Right Round if she wants that #1 (aka this needs to keep having better and better updates). I have a feeling Right Round will have a long stay at #1.

Today's math also says Right Round should go to #6 tomorrow, but it should take about six days to get to #5. The fun part (for me, at least) of this day-to-day tracking is that next week we're all going to see just how much of an effect big-time TV promo has on radio airplay. |

The interesting (for me) thing is that both songs are adding spins at roughly the same pace, varying some day-to-day, of course. Today it was RR +125 and MLWS +102, a different of only 23 spins. So they are actually moving up the chart at approximately the same pace for now despite the big difference in size of their bullets. |

I got a +149 for Right Round. Anyway, here's a spin-gap analysis: 1527 Spins from #1, AAR (+57) 1318 Spins from #2, Britney (+91) 120 Spins from #3, Kanye (+125) 28 Spins from #4, Pink (+174) 681 Spins ahead of #6, Taylor (+298) 830 Spins ahead of #7, Flo Rida (-47) Looking at this, another +100 from Kelly should be enough for her to move up to #3. But since recently songs never seem to trend in a clear pattern there is a possibility of reduced movement from either party (Kelly or Kanye) in the next update, preventing them from crossing paths. Pink took a large spin cut today, so even if that slows right down to a trickle in the next update, Kelly should still likely gain more than enough spins to pass her. This is just for tomorrow of course, Kelly will have no trouble getting to #3 by Sunday. ;) |
