No disrespect to the nominated artists, but the fan voting for the ACMs is despicable. The industry prizes are supposed to represent the genre's artistry, not amount to a "internet button-pushing" contest. In this lineup, I'd like ZBB to win, but Jamey Johnson is an embarassing omission. He's nommed in three top categories but can't sneak into the Top New Artist race. Disappointing. With ACM exec director Bob Romeo fully championing fan interaction, the days of the ACMs being a respected honor may soon be gone. Imagine the Oscars or the Emmys awarding their trophies by internet vote.

I won't even go into Julianne Hough, whose last single couldn't even crack the T40. I'm with you though, with Jamey Johnson out of the way ZBB should definitely win.

so glad Jamey didn't get it. he really didn't deserve it. he's the worst singer i have ever heard. i really love Jake so i am happy he got it instead. and i am glad Julianne and Zac got it as well :)

I wouldn't be surprised to see Julianne Hough win, which would be a complete embarrassment to the industry.

Rascal Flatts not being nominated for Entertainer Of The Year, Emerson Drive not nominated for group but the Randy Rogers Band is yet they didn't have any songs chart that high (not sure how high their single got) while Emerson Drive had a #22 hit, Entertainer of the Year is partly fan voted and partly ACM members voted, and cutting down the New artists categories to just one and making it completely fan voted is just asinine!!! What do they want more performances shown and less awards???

i've never even heard a song played from the randy rogers band......it reminds me of the days when the bellemy brothers would get nominated for duo of the year every time, back when there wasn't enough duos ;)

Ashton Shephard and Jamey Johnson should have won Best New Artists. Ashton is a breath of fresh air and I don't understand why she is not doing better. Same with Danielle Peck.

He really shouldn't even be considered for new artist since "The Dollar" got moderate airplay in 2005 (peaking at #14 -- my local station spun it in heavy rotation). But the criteria for the award is an entirely different argument

I think that Carrie has a good chance to win EOTY with the fan voting, and I hope she does, because Kenny has won it for the last 20 years in a row, it seems. lol.

I think it's a shame that when Carrie wins Entertainer this year, it'll be because of fans multi-voting and not because a panel has given her the recognition.

I doubt Carrie will win -- as I understand it, fan voting is a part of the process, not the entire process. No one has nailed down the exact percentage, but I doubt it's too high -- Kenny never does well at these online contests, and the Flatts mounted a huge, huge GOTV campaign, and Kenny still won a year ago.

Does anyone know where to vote for EotY Starting March 16, you can go HERE to place your vote for Entertainer of the Year and Top New Artist of the Year. That link takes you to the official CBS.com ACM site.

Julianne's a great singer and her album is pretty solid. As far as I'm concerned, she deserves to be nominated and win.

from cmt.com:
Trace Adkins will sing "Til the Last Shot's Fired" with the West Point Glee Club during the ACM Awards in Las Vegas on April 5. The performance is in support of the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), which is the charity selected by the ACM's charitable fund. The song appears on Adkins' newest album, X. Profits from digital downloads of the song on iTunes will benefit the WWP. "It's a privilege to perform this song with such a distinguished choir for the great servicemen and women in whose honor it was written," said Adkins. "We should always let our military know how much we appreciate them putting their lives on the line for us every day. The WWP provides an incredible service to those wounded in combat, so it's an honor to donate proceeds of the performance downloads to support this important and worthy charity."

I'm torn on this fan voting/blue panel expert debate on these awards shows. One one hand these prestigious awards should not be a popularity contest, or who can vote/call/make fake user names the fastest, but on the other hand, the politics of the academy voters and what goes (or doesn't) into their votes would take ages to document here. And, I'm not in the mood to write a war and peace like novel right now on the ills of the voters but everyone here is an above average music fans and know full well of the abuses.

Wow, I'm really excited to hear this! I've never been a Trace Adkins fan, but this song is something else. Haunting, powerful, and one of the strongest songs on the album. Could this be his next single?

What about Kenny, Brad, Carrie, and Rascal Flatts?
They are the reining entertainer, group, and artists of the year for the latter part of the Decade.
Are they not performing?
