You never know
The biggest seller of 2007 was released in late October and was one the few expected to sell as much as it did

Michael Jackson also has 'This Is It' hitting theaters in October. Look for that to boost sales BIG TIME for him.

I can't believe Billboard are considering counting the re-release of Fearless as a separate album to the original studio album. Its ridiculous

It could be defined a new album by RIAA. www.riaa.com/goldandplatinum.php?content_selector=criteriaBillboard tracks Taylor Swift [2006] and Taylor Swift Deluxe [2007] as two separate albums on their website but they combine total sales since there was over 75% original content. But that was only 3 new songs, so Fearless deluxe with 68% original content [based on # tracks] might be treated as new. However, Fearless [2008] has 53:41 minutes so perhaps the Fearless Deluxe version will be under 71:30 minutes to meet the 75% content rule. Could go either way!

I gave up on it because I can't do it accurately. We get the yop 50 every week but only periodically get the top 200. Not enough to maintain a list.

The Fame? No
Fearless - platinum edition is a separate album - sales for that will start at zero

6 new & unique tracks to a reissue makes it a separate album
By "new & unique" I do not mean remixes. You can have an umlimited number of remixes and still be the same album.
This one has 6 plus a DVD

Oh wait, now how would acoustic versions count? New or old material?
Because there's a rumour going round that The Fame Monster will be 4 acoustics & 4 new songs.

Fame Monster is supposed to be on 2 CD's, which makes me think it should have a large # of new songs/remixes. It also means that any certifications would double (i.e. half a mil would be platinum.).
I'm going to pay attention to how many copies both versions of Fearless sell together, as well as The Fame. I want to see Fearless sales vs. Number Ones, as well as The Fame vs. Circus for top pop album released last year. With Monster, Fame looks certain to win, though I wonder if it will before Monster's released.

Taylor Swift re-release "Jump Then Fall" "Untouchable" "Forever & Always (Piano Version Remix)" "Come In With the Rain" "SuperStar" "The Other Side of the Door" Remix or new recording? Taylorswift.com bills the album as having 6 new recordings

Checked a few sites including billboard.biz. Not seeing it listed as a remix, I believe it is a new track

The B'Day re-release had 6 new songs (not counting any remixes or spanish versions) and that was counted as the same album, wasn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong please.

But "Forever & Always (Piano Version)" and "Forever & Always" are the same song. A re-recording of the same song or the same track that is engineered to produce a different sound?
