I never said a label dictated what the magazine does. I don't know why you keep saying that. And the Fearless re-release only has 6 tracks on it...so I don't see what the problem is. And not sure why you are getting so snappy at me...makes no sense. I would expect nothing less than 2m

And how do you know the RIAA is tracking it as a seperate album?? Who's your contact at the RIAA?

No one was able to point the exact Billboard's rules about re-releases.
2m, like many chart-watchers here and at UKMix, were just speculating about it.

Sad, but this is the new music industry:
from oldbloke:
I guess most people who follow this have reached the conclusion that Taylor Swift's Fearless and Michael Jackson's Number Ones will be the top 2 selling albums of the year, as they are so far ahead of the rest of the pack. So what are people's thoughts on the best selling 2009 release by the end of the year?
Here's the top 50 as at now, but of course the top seller may not necessarily be on this list…

Wow, those are awful, awful sales across the board.
Did not realize that Whitney had sold more than twice as many albums as Mariah.
Look at Springsteen as an example of the shape of the industry - huge, fanatically-loyal built-in fan base, massively successful tour, got to debut the title track at the Super Bowl halftime show in front of a billion people...and he can't even sell 600K in the US?
Or look at the Jonas Brothers, aren't they supposed to be a bigger draw than that?

Well, Hannah Montana will take it. I think we should watch out for the Twilight Soundtrack. When the movie comes out, sales will go through the roof.
Jay-Z and BEP are really gaining, great consistency, but not enough to get be at the very top.
Carrie Underwood will probably be top 10 by the end of the year. MJ's soundtrack will be top 20.
Happy to see Prince doing well with a 3 disc set and virtually no airplay.
Seeing this list only makes Taylor's sales all the more impressive. She would undoubtably be diamond if this was 2001. :(

You don't know that for sure. I doubt anyone would have cared about her in 2001. She only sells well today because there's nothing going on in the record industry, so there's less competition

You don't know that for sure. I doubt anyone would have cared about her in 2001. She only sells well today because there's nothing going on in the record industry, so there's less competition Britney, Bruce Springsteen, beyonce, Lady GaGa, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Black Eyed Peas, Nickelback Mariah, Whitney, Kanye West, Eminem, MJ, ect are no competition? OK............ Nobody can say for sure that Taylor's #'s would be alot higher, but with the decline in the #'s, and considering now since all albums are down greatly, I think she could have been close. And so glad to see Bee pass 1 Million sold this year! Lovely :)

I hope someone (maybe Bocelli or Boyle) hits 2 mil without moving ahead of Taylor for #1 of the year just so that at least one album that came out this year will have.
Upcoming albums from artists whose last albums made double plat: Mary J Blige, Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys.

And it should move ahead of HMTM Soundtrack really quickly too.

Wow, this is interesting. Adding up the totals of the albums sold this year, Miley has outsold T.Swift by 79,138 so far. I expect Swizzle to pass her before the BB chart year ends (when is that?) but crazy, right?

The BB year I believe is over. But the BB year started I believe in November 2008 so Taylor probably is ahead of the combination of Hannah & Miley. Though Taylor is one of multiple artists featured on the movie soundtrack...

Why does Susan Boyle have about 1500 fewer copies than she sold first week on this list? Did Soundscan revise #s?

The 699,205 total is the same total reported in the BB200 list
These reports were generated at the same time.

I just realized the Soundscan listing doesn't make any sense:
1 BOYLE*SUSAN I DREAMED A DREAM 700,779 999 632 699,205
It lists the first week as higher than the total.

Must be the Christian store sales that are tracked on the weekly figures but are not added to the LTD for whatever magical reason.
Example:
15 CASTING CROWNS PEACE ON EARTH 56,100 17 47,842 121,035 17 CASTING CROWNS PEACE ON EARTH 75,048 34 56,100 127,770
Total sales in three weeks: 178,990. Cumulative LTD since last year: 127,770
