This was the Rick Dees sure shot last week, and debuted at number 37 this week. That would have helped it, except it's too late now. Yeah, I was wondering about that. It's getting airplay on Rick Dees but that's pretty much it, I guess. This won't even come close to making the AT40, especially now that it's not even Top 50 on Mediabase. Rick Dees is even more behind the official charts than AT40, it appears. And what's ironic is that even when it was a sure shot last week, it continued losing spins, so that made very little impact in the song's chances of getting a rebound. So even with its debut at #37 this week, that really doesn't mean much since no new spins are gained in the process. That being said, there's a good chance this song could get purged tomorrow. It peaked at #38 on Mediabase, stayed in the Top 40 for only three weeks and just fell out of the Top 50 as of today's update. There's no way that this can recover now, unfortunately.

No, it won't recover, and it definitely won't hit AT40. What I like about Rick Dees is that you never really know what underdog songs will impact his chart. What I found surprising was that Lovers in Japan hit AT40, but not Rick Dees, even after LOVERS IN JAPAN WAS RICK DEES'S SURE SHOT on December 6. The week after December 6, it still didn't debut, then they had that three week break in between for those dreadful countdown specials, then they resumed their regular charts and Lovers in Japan was nowhere to be found from then on. So it fell through the three-week crack, which I found extremely disappointing. As for Rick Dees being behind AT40, I don't think that's necessarily true. Obviously, both charts are behind Mediabase, but I think Rick Dees actually has more songs debut on his chart before AT40 does, if not at the same time (provided that the songs chart on Rick Dees at all; he's been snubbing a lot of songs recently :(). I guess one horrible exception to this would be Come on Get Higher, which still isn't on Rick's chart. But, yeah, I've also noticed, that except for Just Stand Up!, every song that impacts Rick's chart stays for at least two weeks. So, I'm expecting Jai Ho! to be on the chart next week and then drop off, but then again, it may stay for even longer than that. You never really know with Rick Dees, which is why I like his chart so much . Kind of a shame that it's all irrelevant considering that Jai Ho = Dead Ho.

Nowhere to be seen on Rick Dees' Weekly Top 40 this weekend.
It went from sure shot two weeks ago to a #37 debut last week and ended up being one of two songs to fall off this week.
I think this puts a final nail in the coffin for this song to be likely purged after this afternoon's updates, even as it's already charting below the Top 50.

While U.S. radio has completely given up on this song, it's not doing as bad on Canadian radio, particularly on CHR where it's now in the Top 30 and continues to pick up spins.
Meanwhile, the Hot AC format appears to have followed the U.S., with most stations quick to add it then drop it from their playlist after a month, leaving only a few stations that are still spinning it.

This is a big hit in Europe and Oceania so its success there makes up for its floppiness in the US.

This is huge in Australia...
Because there tour is coming soon, this has skyrocketed.
It's #1 on Itunes, #2 On Itunes Video and was #4 last week on the official charts.
Right Round and Love Story have been going down and so it could reach #2 or #1 this week :)

I just can't get over how stupid Pussycat Dolls f/Nicole Scherzinger sounds... it's like she's completely disowning them. If she was a Pussycat Doll, she wouldn't need to be featured.

The special credit that a co-writer gets is a SONGWRITING credit...not a featured artist credit.

The special credit that a co-writer gets is a SONGWRITING credit...not a featured artist credit. I know! What was she thinking? It just makes her look like a selfish bimbo. The songwriters are recognized, anyways. It's not like if they're not "featured," the record of who wrote the song just fades into oblivion.

Why isn't Ron Fair featured as well...he co-wrote and produced the song?

If this was indeed Nicole's decision, then it comes nothing short of being disrespectful and unprofessional on her part. But for those that want to give her the benefit of the doubt (and probably few will), it's the label who probably who pushed her to go along with it. Or this was something they both wanted from the beginning. In all cases, it sucks. You think of all the other bands/groups out there who all have lead members (singers/songwriters) who are intent to break out on their own, but would they stoop that low to have their name listed as a featured credit because they co-write songs? It would be like saying: No Doubt feat. Gwen Stefani Destiny's Child feat. Beyonce Black Eyed Peas feat. Fergie And so on forth... Of course, these singers went on to pursue solo careers but just like everyone else, they were more subtle, professional, and classy about it. Whereas with Nicole, she's just flaunting her name out there in any way she can as a pathetic excuse to let everyone know that she's obviously planning on going solo - in the hopes that it will work the second time around. Again, I can't put this all on Nicole (probably the label is behind this as well). As for the remaining Dolls, it would be interesting to see either if they get another member to replace Nicole or record the next album just as a quartet (even if it means one less member for each album they put out). If it seems like she's becoming more of a burden to the rest of the other members, then they probably wish her good riddance. The only question is if can they live up to the challenge of being successful without her at the helm - ideally, I would like to see that, but it's hard to say at this point.

Of course, these singers went on to pursue solo careers but they had a subtle, classy way of doing it. Fergie comes to mind. Her transition to a solo career was done so tastefully. It was clear that the endorsement of her bandmates was important to her. "London Bridge" video featured the entire Peas, to show that everyone were totally on board with it. I wish Nicole could have been as mature and professional as Fergie. I enjoyed reading your entire post, btw :)

I was going to list her but for some reason, it slipped my mind.

Fergie had a successful solo career, because she was the not the entire focus of BEP...She was a member who sang/rap, and didn't when other members did... So when she had solo stuff...where it was all her...it was refreshing and appealing. Nicole's songs sounded like they were by PCD...since Nicole is all the vocals...only her solo material was dreadful.

Yeah, I don't get the comparisons between Nicole and Fergie... Let's put a better example: Wham! Featuring George Michael.... Wait! It did happen!!! And come on, Check On It was a Beyonce track in a Destiny's Child album, so almost similar. And if we go years back, the classical Diana Ross & The Supremes, or The Jacksons featuring Michael Jackson or even with the differences, Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine
And I don't think Nicole is THAT powerful that can make the label say what she wants. I'm team Nicole in this case. Despite she was THE UNIQUE singer in all the hits, she will never take the credit for them as a solo singer. If anything, she was reduced to ZERO in the first era, when she was EVERYTHING for the group. I would be pissed off if that happened to me in any way!!

Alright, you do raise valid points, especially with the classic examples. Perhaps I've read a little too much into this but even with Nicole having done what she has, there's just something about the whole featured credit that doesn't seem right to me. But regardless, I do respect your opinion.

i read in various sources that nicole is the one who pushed for this. i even heard an interview where when asked about it nicole said 'i feel that i'm entitled to it because i co-wrote it.' EGO!

Don't want to sound like a broken record... but what about Don't Cha or Stickwitchu when she was the one responsible for ALL voices but she didn't take credit. On the contrary, we could say that Melody, Kimberly and the other 2 took undeserved credit for doing absolutely nothing in the song, but still they had the part of the pie and they technically had their Top 10 Hits. Where was Nicole's EGO all this time, then?

But they were part of a manufactured group...We know that's the record label...It seems like Nicole is pushing for 'me, me, me.'
