The Freemasons feat. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Heartbreak Make Me A DancerI'm excited to hear that the Freemasons are releasing this track as their next single, with Sophie Ellis-Bextor on vocals. The track originally leaked sometime last year (Sophie posted one version on her MySpace page) and it was scheduled to be a single for Sophie. Sophie had a child however and put her "Greatest Hits" record on hold to instead focus on family and eventually a whole new album (out this summer?). At any rate, the Freemasons will now be releasing this track via their own label. Hopefully we'll see some fantastic remixes for this one! That clip sounds fantastic! I hope they are pretty creative throughout that nine minute mix. I love Freemasons, but their mixes do get pretty repetitive on the longer ones. That build up in that clip reminds me of Ring the Alarm, so we could have a floor filler here.  |

Agreed with you there. I usually go for the radio edits where Freemasons' mixes are concerned. This one could be a hot one though.
I got excited when I heard that Ellis-Bextor & the Freemasons were collaborating together on a track. Shame it didn't make its way on an album...but I'm thrilled that she's working on new material. I've been a fan of hers since my first trip to London.

I just heard the radio edit of the Freemasons mix. It's really good. It does remind me of some of their 2006/2007 mixes. But in a good way. I think the full club mix will be a 10 minute epic.

The radio edit is not the new mix ... the radio edit leaked last year, it's actually more of a 'album version' that was supposed to be on Sophie's album.
The full mix/single release does not have a release date yet

Hmm...good question. I know that Sophie has just filmed the video for the track so I'm sure once that's released, promotion of some kind will get underway. I don't know if it's been getting any radio play in the UK...but it should...it's a great track!

I'm going to really enjoy this song, I think. But I swear everytime I listen to a sample, I have to immediately listen to Ring the Alarm.
Ugh... can't wait until June for this to be released. It's been teased for quite some time.

So, the mixes either leaked or are out on promo. I really like it. It has the classic smooth Freemasons feel to it. There are a little synth/electro nuances to it I didn't hear in the samples before. I do think it has a little more of a darker feel to it, which will probably make it lend itself to being more compatible to being played at certain types of events...  I do somewhat wish it had just a little more drama to it. |

Shakedown 2 is coming this summer ... it's gonna include the cover of grapevine, Heartbreak with Sophie, a new collaboration with Dannii Minogue and a surprize collaboration with a uk singer.

The more I have listened to this track (and yeah, it still reminds me of Ring the Alarm)... the intro always makes me immediately think of Beautfiul Liar.
In fact, I just listened to the intro of them back to back and other than BL's chord progressions, the beat and instrumentation are almost identical. EDIT: Matter of fact, they are even in the same key. Ha.
Oh, and how I heart their Beautiful Liar remix, too. Probably why I like this one so much.

When I was able to do it, the first thing that came to my mind was "this is in fact Beautiful Liar part 2 lol" maybe the breakdown is really simmilar like the one on "RTA" but, like you already mentioned, there's a LOT of elements from the BL mix.
