^I think Carrie will win for 'I Told You So' -I think Taylor will be in AOTY -I hope Keri wins BNA but I don't really see this happening.

Yeah, while I'm not the biggest fan, the Grammies well def. give it a nod. Now winning is a different question altogether....

As far as Country Female Performance, I would love to see what ends up getting nominated for Carrie - ITYS or JaD (or maybe her next debut single!?). While I don't think she will win just because it would get old, I'm still crossing my fingers as I didnt think she would win for "Last Name" too! My heart tells me this is Martina's year with "I Call You Mine"...but we will see! As crazy as I think it is that Martina has yet to win a Grammy, I would cringe to see her win for a song that I find as atrocious as "I Just Call You Mine." In fairness, though, she does sing it beautifully. I would think that Arista Nashville will submit "Just a Dream" and, if it's out in time, the lead single off Carrie's upcoming album in the Female Country Vocal Performance category and let the chips fall where they may (they submitted both "All-American Girl" and "Last Name" last year, and "So Small" and "Before He Cheats" the year before that). I'm guessing that Arista Nashville will submit the Carrie/Randy Travis version of "I Told You So" in the Country Collaboration with Vocals category, where it would face the likes of Brooks & Dunn/Reba on "Cowgirls Don't Cry." Switching gears, Rob Thomas' previous solo effort garnered him two nominations, a Male Pop Vocal nod for "Lonely No More" and a Solo Rock Vocal nod for "This Is How a Heart Breaks." Rob Thomas seems like the kind of artist NARAS likes, so I'm thinking the well-reviewed Cradlesong is a possible nominee in the Pop Vocal Album category, maybe with an outside shot at an Album of the Year nod if NARAS is OK with nominating two Adult Top-40 artists there?

Yeah, but Fearless is a much better album than Some Hearts, and is reviewed way better. Plus, Fearless has been a rocket success, and Some Hearts wasn't. Respectfully disagree with you. While which Album is "better" is purely subjective, you are mistaken on a few key points. 1. Some Hearts sold 7x platinum, and Fearless is only at 3x platinum. It is highly unlikely that it will ever reach the heights of Carrie's Album in terms of sales... as it will likely top out at 4x platinum or maybe 5x platinum at best. 2. Some Hearts was the Fastest Selling Debut Country Album in history..and still holds that record I believe. It was a "rocket" success in every meaning of the word. 3. Some Hearts had 5 number 1 hits, if you include Inside Your Heaven. Carnival Ride produced 5 Number 1 hits as well, and is at 3x platinum in sales. 4. Some Hearts won Album of the year for all Genres at the Billboard music awards for sales, and won Top country Album 2 years in a row. It also won Country Album of the year at the American Music Awards. 5. Carrie's album produced 3 Grammys for Carrie, and also 2 more Grammys for Country Songs of the year. 6. While Carnival Ride got the best reviews of Carrie's albums, Some Hearts did get decent reviews as well. 7. Some Hearts won Album of the year at the ACMS...Fearless did too, so that is a tie I guess. lol Ok, you got me on most of those. BUT you're forgetting that Some Hearts was largely initially successful in the country realm before moving mainstream right before Grammy nominations. Swift has been humongously successful in mainstream since "Love Story" or even "Our Song." In addition, Some Hearts was Carrie's debut: Taylor wasn't nominated for her debut. Carnival Ride was really only successful in country, albeit much much better than Some Hearts, and in many respects, Fearless. My point is Taylor will get an AOTY nod because she is Taylor Swift in 08-09. She topped the Billboard 200 for 11 non-consecutive weeks; this in a time period where very few artists sell physical albums anymore. As well, Swift is just more appealing to an AOTY crowd because she isn't as much country as Carrie is.

^ Ok so you are saying that being "too country" means you are not fit to win album of the year? lol
Last year, Allison Krauss and Robert Plant won Album of the year for an album no one ever heard on the radio, that was a critically acclaimed, country album. A few years ago, the Dixie Chicks won Album of the year for a country album. So country is definetly not a genre you should rule out lightly.
Coldplay and Lil Wayne both massively outsold the Allison Krauss Album, yet it beat them both. They both got tons of radio play too, whereas I have yet to hear the Allison Krauss-Robert Plant songs on the radio, on any major station. lol
Anyway, I am biased here because I am rooting for Dave Matthews Band to win Album of the year with all my heart. lol Their new album is better then all of the contenders in my opinion, so far. Someone else could come along though and blow it away at the last minute. lol They are so under-rated...and the best performers live that you will ever see.

GAH, I'm not saying that at all, but whatever, she'll still get nominated, but won't win. lol.
On the other hand, I agree with DMB. I think right now, they are the only one's who could actually win the award.

Martina has really never won a grammy? I'm shocked :o
I think Taylor will probably get at least one nomination next year, her album sales were huge and for some reason shes seems to get a lot of respect from people in the industry(I'm a huge fan but i really don't understand why people seem to respect her a lot more then her fellow tween stars). I read on CMT ( I think it was CMT) a few months ago that taylor never submitted love story for consideration last year so she can submit it this year and most likely will. I really hope Carrie beats her though. Is I told you so the only thing carrie has eligable or will her new album be out before the dealine?
Best new artist is confusing because doesn't the rule allow when an artist has had their breakout year to be up to the voters? so then you have people like the jonas brothers get nominated after releasing their third album. if thats the case I guess you could see Miley nominated for it(but I doubt it) becuase the climbs appeal was just massive. I do know shes eligable for that song she and jeffrey steele wrote that was nominated for a GG and critics choice award last year, it missed qualifying for the grammys for 2009 by a couple weeks.

I liked her album, but with that said it's not 100% that she will get nommed. Alicia had a big selling album and is a big grammy fave and she didn't get in. I think with Taylor being "country/pop" it hurts her in some ways, since I feel some country supporters won't get behind her. Honestly as long as Beyonce and Sasha Feirce get a few nods, I'll be a happy camper! And BEP too!

^I have no idea, but they were mistaken about Love Story... though there are many other songs she can submit off Fearless like White Horse or the new single.
Who said this, a blogger, or an actual CMT article?

The Climb was ravaged by critics. And Miley just isn't a serious enough contender. The only way she would be nommed for BNA is if she got several nominations for The Climb or Hoedown Throwdown. Which she won't. And if she had a chance it would've been last year after See You Again and 7 Things.

Best Dance Recording: "Poker Face" "Womanizer"
Best Electronic/Dance Album: The Fame The E.N.D.
Best Rap Album: Relapse 808s & Heartbreak
The Chrisette Michele album, "Epiphany" has a shot at winning Best R&B Album.
One of P!nk's singles or her album might be nominated in the pop categories.
I can also see "Hot N Cold" and "Thinking of You" being nominated in a recording and songwriting category, respectively. The latter could also be nominated in a vocal performance category.

^ They were right that she didn't submit most of the singles from Fearless yet... as she didn't submit White Horse or You Belong with Me...So both are eligible. But Love Story is not, at least not in some categories.

I guess White Horse must have been eligable and whatever songs she released as singles on iTunes

^ Love Story was eligible as it was released to radio in August or early September of 2008, before the Grammy cut off. White Horse was not eligible as it was not released until well after the cut off date. Perhaps Love Story was not submitted in every category in which it is eligible? It could be submitted under pop songs I guess, under the Pop remixed version.. Not sure how that works. lol I can't remember if it was submitted in every category in which it is eligible, but it was definetly submitted in some categories already.
There were some well informed Grammy gurus on these boards last year... that might know better then I do... as I can't recall 100% how many categories Love Story was submitted in last year.
Black Eyed Peas will either run away with tons of Nominations this year, or they might be snubbed. Hard to say.
I can see "Boom Boom Pow" getting some love as it is a really infectious catchy song! lol I jog to it everyday. But I am not sure if their album is strong enough for an Album slot.
Lady Gaga could definetly get an Album of the Year nomination.
Would her Album be listed in the Pop Album Category,or Dance Album, or both?

"I Told You So" is an old song, so it can't be nominated.
I'm pretty sure that "Love Story" was submitted for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Female Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song; among with "Our Song" and "Picture to Burn".
"Just A Dream" was submitted for Best Short Form Music Video, that's make it ineligible in the other categories??
