I like ALL of these songs in Pop Female. For some reason, I want Pink to win it because she has yet to win here despite being nominated so much. I hope she can pull a Kelly Clarkson here and take Pop Female and Pop Album against the general field nominees.
Adele could win and it would be extremely deserving, but the trends in this category may affect her chances. The winner is usually someone who is nominated in Pop Album or ROTY and/or SOTY. But maybe she can break this trend...
Katy is out of it because of the competition. Contrary to popular belief, "Hot N Cold" deserves the nomination. Compared to the other nominees, it was cleverly written and it's a fun song.
That leaves Taylor and Beyonce. I wouldn't be shocked if either one of them win. However, I'm leaning with Taylor because "You Belong With Me" is the biggest hit in the category, it's up for ROTY and SOTY, and Taylor seems to have a lot of support now. That'd probably piss people off, but Taylor definitely has a strong chance.
SHOULD WIN: Pink, "Sober" WILL WIN: Taylor Swift, "You Belong With Me"

Beyonce will probably sweep the R&B field, with Maxwell behind. Traditional R&B usually goes to an older artist/legend, but Beyonce stands a good chance here. However, I wouldn't dismiss Ms. Ann Nesby or Anthony Hamilton (who won here last year with Al Green for "You've Got The Love That I Need"). It's possible for those voters to go with more traditional artists here. Popularity doesn't always matter here.
Female R&B is for Beyonce, though Melanie Fiona would be her biggest threat (not big threat by any means) due to her current success of "It Kills Me." I wouldn't mind a tie there with Beyonce and Melanie. It'd be like Patti and Lisa Fischer tie in this category back in 1992. Regardless, I say Beyonce wins here pretty easily.
Male R&B? This is rather easy. Maxwell by a long long shot, and I will be glad when he finally gets his due. R&B Album seems to be his, too. Hopefully, they televise his wins.
Beyonce wins Contemporary R&B Album in a landslide. For real?
Urban/Alternative goes to Foreign Exchange or India.Arie. I think India will prevail.
Best R&B Performance By a Duo or Group seems competitive. I think "Chocolate High" will win for some reason.
R&B Song is between Maxwell and Beyonce. I'm hoping Maxwell wins here as his song is the best written song out of the bunch, but the biggest hit usually wins here. So, SL will win.

Hopefully Maxwell can pull out a squeaker in R&B song especially since his song spent 14 weeks at #1 on the r&b chart. That'll sort of make up for the blatant snub in AOTY.
I love this song it's so breezy and cool.

Ann Nesby NEEDS to win Traditional R&B. "Sow Love" is the best in that lineup. Hopefully, the voters look passed popularity and pick her.

Beys take on At Last is no slouch though and if she wins it's not just because she's Beyonce. Remember, she didn't just sing it as Etta for Cadillac Records, she also sang it for the Obamas for their first dance. Bey took an iconic song, made it her own and contributed to an iconic moment. I really think while the whole category is excellent, bias aside Bey was the only one to really impact a huge amount with a recording in this group.

"At last" was good and I think it will win, but I'm personally rooting for Ann Nesby. That track is flawless. That's the thing, Beyonce is the most recognizable name here. There is no big named legend in the bunch to rain on her parade, so technically, Beyonce would win on her name. I just think "Sow Love" should win. It's my personal favorite out of the bunch. I hope the NARAS spreads the love in the R&B field. There are other artists who put out quality this year too.

I think Bey will sweep the RB categories...the hardest one would be Best Song and its bc Maxwells Pretty Wings is AMAZING. If SL wasnt so big I think it would win!

If Single Ladies prevails over Pretty Wings in R&B Song it will be another repeat of Crazy In Love winning over Dance With My Father in 04.
An utter disaster.

Why did "Dance With My Father" deserve to win...just because Luther had a stroke the year before? No shade. Either one of those songs can win & it will be totally understandable. As a whole, this Maxwell thing has really been overhyped. I own every one of Maxwell's cd & this one is probably my least favorite. I mean, it wasn't that great. I'm glad for his success though.

Because I thought it was the better song. The committee obviously thought otherwise.
To each its own.

In the end, Luther won the bigger award. There's nothing overhyped about Maxwell, his song or his album. That is clearly YOUR opinion. IMO, lyrically, "Pretty Wings" trumps "Single Ladies." It would only lose to SL because it wasn't a crossover hit.

The General Field is truly, truly terrible this year. Song of the Year should be Kings of Leon's, if and only by default. Maxwell is deserving but I'm not sure if he'll have enough juice to carry over into Big Four territory. He'll own R&B though. I know the Grammy committee wants us to believe this is a fight between Blossom, Bubbles, & Buttercup Beyonce, Swift and Gaga but I'm not buying it. They were the most popular, yes, but lyrically? I don't know, a "put a ring on it" and "bluffin with my muffin" win would be kind of a joke to me. Plus popularity usually only guarantees nominations not wins at the Grams.
Album of the Year, I really can't see them giving it to anyone besides Dave Matthews Band. A Swift victory may be possible but I really don't see it.
Record is probably a battle between Swift & Kings of Leon.
Best New Artist. Anyone but Keri Hilson and the Ting Tings will be fine with me. I don't know where they're going with that. What a weak, weak line-up.

I hope Pink, Beyonce or Adele wins Pop Female. Kelly Clarkson deserved the win though. Too bad the voters smoked something strong that day. :(

Keri Hilson will win. Pop has won twice in a row and country won three years ago. The last time a R&B/Rap act won was John Legend four years ago, but before that it was 1999 with Lauryn Hill. Zac Brown Band could pull off a win. I want The Ting Tings to win. They are fun, goofy, and aren't making music to win awards. But Keri most likely has it in the bag. I don't see another Brit winning the award, but who knows, they could pull off an upset and win the only award they are nominated for.

Oh and I just noticed something. Gaga was snubbed in Short-Film Music Video. If she deserved any category it was that one for Paparazzi.

I dont see Keri winning his year. The category is so weak they shoudl just cancel it and move onn to when there are worthy nominees

LOL! I don't understand how one can say BNA is "weak," then say Keri Hilson has no chance at winning. Why don't a few of you think Keri may pull off a win in this WEAK (I have to stress that) category? She most certainly can. So can ZBB and MGMT. We can basically rule out The Tings Tings and Silverspun Pickups. I don't see them dominating the votes like the other three.

I'd prefer MGMT then The Ting Tings over Keri. I think they both had more solid projects as opposed to one big song carried by the guests said song featured. Keris just another plug and play rnb chick while MGMT and TTT have shown more originality and depth. Just my opinion of course but that's how I hope it plays out.

And for the record, I don't think BNA is weak, it's just lacking any major mainstream acts. It is possible to be an amazing artist, worthy of boatloads of Grammys, without ever cracking through the mainstream barrier. I think the category has plenty of deserving talent.

MGMT and The Tings Tings have originality? No. LOL I think some of you will be unhappy come Grammy night. And I'm not even rooting for Keri Hilson like that. If she doesn't win, then ZBB will prevail. And even in some other categories, there will be a few upsets.

This show hardly is about the "best" in music (especially for the major categories), but it is nice that the New Artist category veers away from the usual middle-of-the-road, safe nominees that still make their way into the major categories.
