How could Rihanna possibly surpass Beyonce or Alicia musically? She isn't nearly as talented as either. Maybe in terms of commercial success... She's growing and her songs are huge, not to mention they are actually good pop songs. With Beyonce it's her image and persona that carries her music, with Alicia I think some of her songs like Fallin and No One actually becomes bigger than Alicia herself. Rihanna's persona and image matches her music, which can make her become bigger than the two if she continues to grow. I find it the exact opposite. Bey is most known as a performer and her songs and videos have become cultural phenomenons. Rihanna is a product and people talk more about her personal life and fashion choices than they talk about her music. I can agree with you on Alicia though. She's definitely a talent but anyone who considers her the musical messiah of this generation is a delusional soul.

People judge Beyonce by her performances and videos, but people didn't even like Single Ladies in the beginning. Beyonce has to sell some of her songs, so it's not the music that reel people in. It's Beyonce as the entertainer. Well Rihanna's album is two years old. There's only so long you can talk about one album, but even if the current convo is about her fashion choices or personal life, if the convo is switched to her music you cant say that too many of her songs are horrible or wack. She may not be the best singer, but Rihanna has talent and she transcends with it. I think saying Beyonce is the best singer is just as delusional as saying Alicia is a musical messiah. People say that because there are not a lot of piano players/singers currently out, just how people say Beyonce is the best because there are not a lot of entertainers/singers. When stripped, Beyonce isn't the best singer and Alicia isn't the best piano player. It's just the combination of all that both are judged by.

When stripped, Beyonce isn't the best singer and Alicia isn't the best piano player. It's just the combination of all that both are judged by. First of all, I have to say that I'm enjoying the mature discussion on different artists. Rarely happens in this thread. But, I respectfully disagree. Bey's music is great but it is definitely that added effect of her being a top-notch entertainer that brings it to another level, no doubt. I, personally, am not a fan of Rihanna's music but Def Jam does a fantastic job of marketing it to the audience that does enjoy it and the importance of great producers and writers is no more evident than with Rihanna. And yeah, the "best" thing is completely subjective. Calling an artist the best, the greatest, or any other title that entertains that one is the end-all, be-all to music and entertainment is completely a matter of one's opinion and will always be able to be disputed.

I am so glad I took a break from this chick for a bit. As a result, "Single Ladies" still sounds fresh! I can't believe I didn't like it at first. Tricky killed that s**t. Talk about an expensive sounding beat. No one gets stuff like that for cheap. Beyonce only gets the best production those dollas can buy!
Oh...and why wasn't Hip Hop Star from her debut released? What a SMASH!

Wow Halo's doing very well in the UK! And the album is staying very consistent! And Halo get's a new peak at pop(#18). It's doing well on ITunes(constantly moving from 15-11). Airplay is steadily building! I really wish she would perform on AI! But nothing has been mentioned yet. I just really want another live performance of Halo! Loved the NAACP performance!

Beyoncé set to duet with Alexandra Burke! ABOVE: She is rumoured to be set to duet with the Destiny's Child singer lexandra Burke is used to keeping her emotions in check around her idol Beyonce after spending time in a recording studio with her. The former X Factor winner, who famously blubbed her way through a duet with the Destiny's Child diva on the show, has reportedly been getting vocal coaching from her. Alexandra, 20, has been getting advice from Beyonce as well as her rapper and producer husband Jay-Z. There's even talk of a duet for the songstresses. A source said: "Beyonce is sure Alexandra has what it takes to be as big as Leona and she's planning to help her crack the US." www.ok.co.uk/celebnews/view/9330/Beyonce-set-to-duet-with-Alexandra/
