Taylor twitedd, tweeted, whatever it is, that she was in the studio with t-pain....guess we know why now....hes presenting & maybe they will be future mix collaborators....fushizzle. There's pictures of Taylor and T-Pain from the rehearsals for the CMT Awards on the cmt site. I wonder if it's the opening piece, like a video or something. Like the whole Smarter then a Country Star skit. Apparently they shot a video. These are the pics:

Now all we need is Kanye West to duet with Sugarland and I can faithfully say that we are back in the days of Merle.

Michelle Branch on her site says she is going to it. I haven't seen anything yet from Jessica. They both say they are getting new website this week. Jessica tweeted that she is picking out a dress for it. I hope they sit together. It would be pretty much the only highlight of they show it looks like.

The fact that Kellie Pickler will be treated like an A list celebrity at this awards show is exactly why I'm not watching.

Ground rules for tonight: This thread is still NOT to be treated as a chatroom full of one-liners. This forum is a place for adults to exchange views, which means that if you post an opinion, you are expected to defend it. You are also expected to listen to what other people say -- respectfully. That means no one-liners to cheerlead or to criticize. In consultation with the Pulse staff, I have also imposed an extra restriction on certain posters (read #3 below) in order to avoid the fan wars that routinely derail this kind of thread. Everyone should be sure to read up here, because I will not excuse violations due to ignorance. For everyone, keep your sense of outrage in check. You're probably not going to like all of the performances tonight, or all of the award winners tonight, or all the things that are said in this thread tonight. But you're going to have to deal with that by not treating this thread as a place to rant and vent your spleen. All of the artists appearing and performing tonight are human beings, and all of the posters commenting here tonight are human beings as well. Please don't lose sight of that in your commentary. Snark is welcome, but it's really only going to work here if it is good-natured. Some ground rules, imported but slightly modified from previous ACM and CMA threads: 1. Do NOT comment on the show without watching it. This should be obvious, but I don't want to risk leaving it unsaid. 2. Read/review the Pulse rules, because they obviously apply here. Here are a few excerpts of particular relevance: [/b] Always show respect to fellow board members and moderators. No Trolling. Trolling, for those not familiar with Internet lingo, is defined as posting just to get a negative reaction from other board members. Just posting “this artist sucks” in an artist thread, or similar behavior, is trolling. Concerns about another member in violation of the rules should be directed to the moderators in the form of a Private Message. Members should not confront other members about rule violations on the board. This tends to escalate things and make the situation worse. Moderator decisions are final. In addition to warning members, moderators reserve the right to lock topics, move topics, delete and edit offensive posts, and edit signatures and other profile information in violation of the rules. In general, these decisions will not be reversed. However, in rare circumstances, a reversal may be appropriate. Complaints about moderator action should be directed to the moderators. These complaints should NOT be posted in the Announcements/Board Concerns forum, or any other forum.[/i][/ul] 3. If you have previously gotten warned for fan-warring, you are subject to an extra restriction tonight. If you have previously been warned for fan-warring (and you should know who you are), then you are NOT allowed say anything about the artist you were commenting about when warned. This restriction includes posting comment-less emoticons like while the artist in quesiton is performing. The restriction also includes posting something like "It's too bad there aren't any real female solo singers performing tonight" or "It's such a relief to have an awards show without the usual screaming that some singers do" and similar passive-aggressive crap (like posting a quote of a review that hates on someone whose performance you disliked). Don't try to be cutesy and get around it. It will get you warned. And most of the people subject to this restriction will incur a suspension or permanent ban from this board if they rack up another warning. This is NOT about banning critical commentary. This IS about the failure of a small number of posters to learn how to make critical, discerning posts without baiting fans of an artist they don't like. This IS about a small number of posters here who have allowed whatever silly competitive impulse they have to get in the way of having an adult conversation about music. This IS about not letting the immature people who have repeatedly and selfishly subjected the rest of us to their personal battle ruin our fun and our conversation in this thread. 4. Do NOT assume that negative commentary is trolling -- the moderator will be the judge of that. As a mod, I am reasonably familiar with people's posting histories, so I'll have some context to figure out whether a negative post is bait/trolling or simply a person's good faith opinion. If it's the former, I will deal with it. If it's the latter, then the only appropriate responses will be substantive without attacking the poster. 5. Watch your tone and do NOT confuse the strength of your beliefs with their relevance or accuracy. It's understandable that people might feel passionately about music and artists (and who should or shouldn't win awards tonight. But if we're going to have a real discussion, everyone needs to stay away from inflammatory rhetoric that is going to distract from your point. Moreover, everyone needs to post in ways that make it clear the s/he is not confusing his/her opinion with the gospel truth. Oh, and show some self-awareness. Discussion here is NOT about hearing yourself talk and it is NOT about getting in the last word. It is about having a conversation with a real exchange of views. I hope we hear from many of our members tonight and that everyone enjoys the show and the discussion we have of it. Questions? Comments? Feel free to PM me. Thanks.

I've actually never really watched the CMT awards before. How do they compare to the ACM & CMA's, and what are some of the best parts about the show usually?
Thanks, I'm looking forward to it tonight! :)

The openers are normally real funny. They do skit type openers, along with a big act performance. This award show to me isn't as stiff and uptight as the other two are. It's more lowkey and fun. The show is all about the fans really.
I'm curious to see what Bill has to offer. I didn't care for Billy Ray and Miley last year. I did enjoy Jeff Foxworthy for the few years he hosted it. I'm hoping Bill matches up to him

I'm hoping Bill matches up to him I thought Jeff Foxworthy was good early on, but he weakened considerably in his final year. I thought his Dixie Chicks rant was an unnecessary pile on / beating of a dead horse. (I don't say that as an endorsement or non-endorsement of the Dixie Chicks. I would say that about any topic that has already been extremely played). As weakened as Foxworthy was in his most recent year, he was still light years better than Billy Ray Cyrus, IMO. Hopefully tonight goes a lot better!

Dudley - what if you don't watch the awards show and thus don't take part in the live discussion, but say tomorrow you youtube a few performances and want to comment on them? Do all the same rules still apply?

I just found out what Sugarland is doing and it is going to be amazing. I can't wait to see it. I'll just say if you have seen them in concert since September you have heard the song and they will have special "orginal" guests helping them out!

And picklerclarkson, your post is clearly trolling. Both of you need to make sure you read and understand the ground rules for tonight's awards show discussion (just a few posts up, here) before posting again, otherwise you will put yourself even closer to suspension of your membership. History tells me that Kellie Pickler super-fans would be particularly well-served to read and re-read the ground rules. Matt, you can comment on performances that you watch on YouTube, but within the ground rules laid out above.

Darius sounded real rough. I was thinking the same thing! I enjoyed Dierks performance and loved that ZBB and Sugarland won their awards. The intro was funny, well most of it. The video skit especially! I'm enjoying Lady A. I love the whole play off the video for the performance.
