It's alright. Mostly good songs, but ain't got anything on the stuff she did with Ike. Its production is a double-edged sword.

Some of it still sounds great. "Better Be Good to Me" and "Let's Stay Together" remain fresh. Her take on "I Can't Stand the Rain," while not quite at the level of Ann Peebles's, is also refreshingly good. On the other hand, her arrangement of "Help!" works much better in theory than in execution.
Still, I agree it's a strong album overall, and its role as a great comeback can't be denied. Honestly, though, I think Break Every Rule is where she really figured out how to match this rock-oriented sound with her strengths as a vocalist.

All of Tina's albums after PD are cruelly underrated, I agree. (Well actually, idk about Foreign Affair, only because it's the only studio album after her big comeback I haven't heard. But it did produce what is arguably her signature tune, "The Best.")

I think this album is way overrated. I'm not a big fan of her non-Ike career in general, but she had even better solo albums than this one.

Yeah, this album had a few gems but overall wasn't too impressive IMO.

Still, this was a phenomenon almost everywhere. What's Love... was one of the Pop highlights of the decade, and even my mom and people of her generation watched in awe the renaissance of this singer (although for them it was almost like a debut from her), with good vocals and in such a good shape... and with KILLER LEGS!! WLGTDWI remained a couple of weeks at the Top of my personal chart, and BBGTM reached Top 10. PD was just a personal favorite :)

The first 7 tracks are great, and several of them are all-time classics - the other 3 are pointless.

Iconic album. Agreed with the above. The first 7 tracks are all great. I prefer some of the b-sides over the last few tracks.

This album is amazing! I love every song with the exception of "Better Be Good To Me," "Steel Claw" and "1984," which are just OK to me. It's in my top 3 albums by Tina with only Foreign Affair (#2) and Break Every Rule (#1) being above it. "Don't Rush The Good Things," "When I Was Young," "I Wrote A Letter," "Keep Your Hands of My Baby" are great as well. As is the extended version of WLGTDWI. Tina's music is everything.
