I love this song but changed the title in my I-Tunes. I wrote- Kelly Rowland feat. David Guetta - When Love Takes Over because I like Kelly's name first. I agree the Electro Mixes are good. Which is the best though? i removed david's name altogether. who cares about him? i care about the singer. you never hear producer names on pop/r&b stuff. it's just stupid

It's just irritating when you read articles that give full credit to Timbaland for the uber-smash Apologize was.

That's different dumb ass, he basically just covered Apologise. This whole song was done by David Guetta, and dance artists always guest star someone to sing on their songs. Many dont even get credited for singing on the songs, especially if they're relatively unknown. Typical ignorant american comments.

The sort of scenario that Skizzo is describing happened a lot during the 90's.
For example, there was Italian act Black Box (best known for "Strike It Up" and "Everybody Everybody"). Singer Martha Wash was the vocalist on many of their songs yet her name wasn't on any of the releases in the credits, and some other model girl would lip sync the vocals during live performances and videos.
And then there were all those acts like Corona ("Rhythm Of The Night" and "Baby Baby") and Playahitty ("The Summer Is Magic") where the producers and vocalists were the same but other girls would lip the vocals and do the videos. It was funny because sometimes there would be multiple singles out under these different aliases and the same vocalist was on some or even all of them.
There are many, many more instances of this.
And the most notorious case was Milli Vanilli. They managed to keep everyone fooled until the truth came out about who was actually singing.

By the way, are we crediting this as a Top 40 his for Ms. Kelly? She's not credited on Mediabase, but on Billboard she is credited as (featuring Kelly Rowland).

What happened with "Apologize" didn't surprise me at all. Some people were unaware of the fact that a producer and DJ can get lead artist credit also. Timbaland was both of those before he started contributing vocals on records. I know this happens mostly in hip hop and of course, dance.

She loved the song, asked if she could work on it, and wrote most of the lyrics. So in this case, Kelly was much more than a studio singer called in just to sing the song, and she should be credited accordingly - at least with a writing credit. The good news is that the two enjoyed their collaboration so much, they've worked on another three songs together, which will hopefully make the cut onto David's forthcoming album.

I'm telling you I hate the fact this song is listed as David Guetta first. The AVERAGE person does not know or care about him. When the song is played on the radio here in the US- people want to know "Who sings this song"...not- who produced it? who arranged it? That is why I think it should have been listed as Kelly Rowland feat. David Guetta. OR just simply list the song as Kelly Rowland- When Love Takes Over (David Guetta Original Mix)...which I prefer. KELLY's name needs to be out there for mainstream purposes. I hope this song is not another missed radio/charts opportunity for another former Destiny's Child member.
As you recall, Michelle Williams "We Break The Dawn" should have and could have been huge!

David Guetta is huge in the club scene and he's huge internationally. His worldwide fame is what caused this song to perform so well across the globe. Most Americans probably don't even know who K Row is outside of DC3. I'm excited for her next album, it should perform and be promoted much better than the last. Dance sound here we come!

i think the song would be more successfull if just listed as kelly rowland. people DO know her name. the avg american does not care to hear anything other than the singer's name. they might be confused by too many names and that could hurt sales or requests, etc. i do know dance music and have known of david's music for years and years and still do not care about him. the song took longer for me to even give the first listen to because of his name on it(i'm not typically a fan of his style.) kelly should be showcased more, plain and simple.

So, do radios present this song only as David Guetta? I would think they say the proper credits and if that is the case, then no reason to say that David's name should be deleted! It is his album, his song, his idea and Dance music has been like this for many years... although, as someone said before, now it is better. I remember Black Box, Corona, DJ Bobo and even C+C Music Factory with the change of acts for the video vs. those in the album. On the other hand, can someone explain me how this is at #30 and LMFAO is at #27???? Seriously, there is a BIG difference in terms of quality and even radio-friendliness between LMFAO and DG/KR to have a situation like this

Not a bad showing at top 40 for a dance song- but, it needs bigger stations playing it. Are there any biggies playing it? (late to this thread, sorry)

This supposedly hit a new iTunes peak of #67 today. I screwed around with the different feeds but couldn't find it any higher than #68. And Kelly is scheduled to be on Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson tonight, presumably to promote the finale of The Fashion Show (tomorrow night), but maybe she'll sing also. Edit: And here are the majors that have added WLTO so far: WHTZ, WKTU, WNYZ, WXRK New York --- KIIS, KAMP Los Angeles WBBM, WKSC Chicago --- KMVQ, KNGY San Francisco --- KKHH Houston WIOQ, WRDW Philadelphia --- WXKS Boston --- KNHC Seattle KZZP Phoenix --- KHTS San Diego --- WFLZ Tampa WBLI, WDRE Long Island --- KONN Denver --- WKST Pittsburgh
