Hey guys! Last year around this time, I hosted an American Idol all-star game where we found Pulse's top 24 contestents of all time...then boiled it down to 12 and each round after, eliminated 1 contestent until we found Pulse's Ultimate American Idol! I want to do a similar competition starting after next week's finale but this time, to find Pulse's favorite American Idol performances.
So Season 8 is over and there have been 900 live performances by top 10/12/13 finalists (not including reprises). I think we can start the game by having anyone who wants to play PM me their 8 (or less) favorite performances from each season + their 8 other faves from any season (totalling 72 performances a person max). The 64 performances with the most votes will move onto the tournament.
INSTRUCTIONS: PM me your top 8 (or less) performances of each Idol season. Also include 8 "wildcard" performances from any season. The performances with the most votes will move on to the tournament rounds. Performances can be from the semifinals or finals (the live shows) and only from finalist contestents (top 10/12/13). You have until next Friday, May 29th @ midnight to PM me your votes.

Questions? Comments? Concerns?
To clarify, favorite 8 per season + 8 wildcard performances that didnt make your top 8 of a season. Only live performances count (semifinals + finals). Only performances by finalists count (top 10 for season 1, top 13 for season 8, top 12 for seasons 2-7). In total, you can submit up to 72 performances.

We'll start with Season 1 We've already established that Nikki McKibbin, AJ Gil & Jim Verraros recieved 0 votes. That leaves 7 contestents who had at least 1 performance recieve a vote. Only 3 contestents however, had a performance to recieve more than 1 vote. Those contestents were Kelly Clarkson, Tamyra Gray & Christina Christian. The first performance that will compete is the performance that Simon said was "one of the best performances he'd ever seen on TV"...Tamyra Gray's "A House is Not A Home". Kelly Clarkson dominated the rest of the votes, pushing 7 of her performances into Round 2, leaving out Christina's "Ain't No Sunshine".
Season 1 Performances to advance to Round 2 Respect, Kelly Clarkson - Semi-finals A Natural Woman, Kelly Clarkson - Top 8 Don't Play That Song, Kelly Clarkson - Top 7 Stuff Like That There, Kelly Clarkson, Top 6 Walk on By, Kelly Clarkson, Top 5 A House is not a Home, Tamyra Gray, Top 5 I Surrender, Kelly Clarkson, Top 4 Without You, Kelly Clarkson, Top 3

Season 2 9 of Season 2's Top 12 recieved votes but only 5 contestents have performances that move to the next round. Winner Ruben Studdard's "Superstar" is the first. 3 other semifinal performances move on as well, Kimberly Locke's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and 2 wild-card performances: Clay Aiken's "Don't Let the Sun go Down on Me" and Trenyce's "Let's Stay Together". Wildcard contestents Trenyce & Clay also move on with top 5 performances "Proud Mary" and "Solitaire", respectively. Clay seems to be the season's most popular contestent, with a 3rd performance moving on, his finale rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Water". The last performance to move on was Carmen Rasmusen's "Call Me". Although Josh Gracin performed the best of all season 2 contestents in last year's Pulse-All-Star-Idol competition, he failed to give any performance to move on.
Season 2 Performances to advance to Round 2 Superstar, Ruben Studdard - Semi-finals Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Kimberly Locke - Semi-finals Don't Let the Sun go Down on Me, Clay Aiken - Wild-card Let's Stay Together, Trenyce - Wild-Card Call Me, Carmen Rasmusen - Top 8 pt II Proud Mary, Trenyce - Top 5 Solitaire, Clay Aiken - Top 5 Bridge Over Troubled Water, Clay Aiken - Finale

Season 3 Season 3 was known as the "season of the divas" and that's exactly how Pulse saw it - none of the season's 4 male finalists have a presence in round 2 (sorry George!). We've also already established that Amy & Leah didn't get any votes, narrowing the field to Fantasia, Diana, Jasmine, Latoya, Jennifer & Camille. 4 contestents make up our top 8 performances, 2 per diva. Winner Fantasia moves on with "Something to Talk About" and "Summertime". Runner-up Diana steps in to round 2 with "No More Tears" and "Don't Cry Out Loud". 3rd place finisher Jasmine got left in the dust with Camille as Latoya & J-Hud stepped it up. Note: Top 8 night of Season 3 sees 3 performances move on!
Season 3 Performances to advance to Round 2 Something to Talk About, Fantasia Barrino - Semi-finals All By Myself, Latoya London - Semi-finals Circle of Life, Jennifer Hudson - Top 9 I Have Nothing, Jennifer Hudson - Top 8 Summertime, Fantasia Barrino - Top 8 Somewhere, Latoya London - Top 8 No More Tears, Diana DeGarmo - Top 4 Don't Cry Out Loud, Diana DeGarmo - Top 3

Season 4 While Season 4 seemed to be dominated by the guys (5-2 ratio on top 7 week, the girls prevailed in the end. Vonzell & Carrie outnumbered Bo in the top 3 and in Pulse's all-star competition, 6 of the 8 performances moving forward are by women. The only 2 successful male performances come from Idol's 2 original rock stars: Constantine's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and Bo's "In a Dream". The 6 female to performances are spread between Carrie Underwood, Vonzell Solomon & Jessica Sierra. Jessica moves on with "Total Eclipse of the Heart" as Vonzell steps up with "Let's Hear it for the Boy", as the remaining 4 performances comes from the season's winner, Carrie Underwood. Two single performance nights boasts 3 performances each...the 3 performances from top 8 night (Year you were Born) were the last 3 performances of the night.
Season 4 Performances to advance to Round 2 Alone, Carrie Underwood - Top 11 Total Eclipse of the Heart, Jessica Sierra - Top 10 Let's Hear it for the Boy, Vonzell Solomon, Top 8 Love is a Battlefield, Carrie Underwood - Top 8 Bohemian Rhapsody, Constantine Maroulis - Top 8 Crying, Carrie Underwood - Top 3 In a Dream, Bo Bice - Top 3 Making Love (Out of Nothing at All), Carrie Underwood - Top 3

Season 5 Season 5 had some of the best and some of the worst. While Daughtry, Yamin, McPhee, Hicks & Bennett floruished, Kevin Covais bombed hard...luckily, Pulse gave 'Chicken Little' no votes and split the top-8 between some of S5's most talented. Taylor Hicks, the season's winner is the only Idol winner to not have any performances move on to round 2, despite 4 of his performances recieving votes. His closest competition, Katherine McPhee, Elliott Yamin & Chris Daughtry however, make up for it putting forward 2 performances each. The remaining 2 come from belting divas Paris Bennett (These Foolish Things) and Mandisa (I Don't Hurt Anymore).
Season 5 Performances to advance to Round 2 Moody's Mood For Love, Elliott Yamin - Semi-finals Wk 2 Hemmorhage (In My Hands), Chris Daughtry - Semi-finals Wk 2 I Don't Hurt Anymore, Mandisa - Top 11 I Walk the Line, Chris Daughtry - Top 11 These Foolish Things, Paris Bennett - Top 7 Someone to Watch Over Me, Katherine McPhee - Top 7 A Song for You, Elliott Yamin - Top 6 Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Katherine McPhee - Top 3

Season 6 Season 6 started slow but became a nail-biter when we got down to the final 3 - a trained professional with early frontrunner status, a 17-year-old bubblegum-pop belter and the "alternative" guy who brought beat-boxing to Idol. Despite any great performances from Lakisha or Stephanie, suprises from Gina or Phil or true scares from Sanjaya, only Blake, Jordin & Melinda move on to round 2. Their performances range from the semifinals to the week that Mindy-Doo got eliminated.
Season 6 Performances to advance to Round 2 Since You've Been Gone, Melinda Doolittle - Semi-finals Wk 1 My Funny Valentine, Melinda Doolittle - Semi-finals Wk 2 Time of the Season, Blake Lewis - Top 11 I (Who Have Nothing), Jordin Sparks - Top 11 A Broken Wing, Jordin Sparks - Top 7 You'll Never Walk Alone, Jordin Sparks - Top 6 pt I You Give Love a Bad Name, Blake Lewis - Top 6 pt II Nutbush City Limits, Melinda Doolittle - Top 3

Season 7 Most viewers though Season 7 was a foregone conclusion after Archie mesmerized the world with his take on Lennon's "Imagine"...5 contestents however, tried their best to take him out and while Archie still placed 2nd overall and best of any S7 contestent in last year's All-Star Pulse Idol competition, not even his stirring rendition of the ultimate hippie tune can progress in this competition. Cook came out of nowhere in wk3 of the semifinals and ultimatrely delivered 3 game-changing performances, all landing in Round 2. The 3rd David (Hernandez) is the only non-top 10 contestent to move on to round 2 with his suprisingly strong performance of "Papa Was a Rolling Stone". The remaining performances come from one-time frontrunners-turned judges' punching bags (Jason, Brooke & Carly).
Season 7 Performances to advance to Round 2 Papa Was a Rolling Stone, David Hernandez Hello, David Cook Hallelujah, Jason Castro Come Together, Carly Smithson Let it Be, Brooke White Billie Jean, David Cook Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Jason Castro Always be my Baby, David Cook

Season 8 The most recent season of Idol ultimately was a "ding-dong", according to Simon. While some very weak vocalists were cut towards the beginning of the finals, we ended up with a very strong top 5. If Pulse had the control however, Danny Gokey wouldn't have even gotten that far, having recieved NO votes for any performances, matching Nikki McKibbin as the most successful Idol contestents to not get any votes. It was all about Matt Giraud (So Small), Allison Iraheta (Papa was a Rolling Stone), runner-up Adam Lambert & winner Kris Allen.
Season 8 Performances to advance to Round 2 Black or White, Adam Lambert - Top 13 Ring of Fire, Adam Lambert - Top 11 So Small, Matt Giraud - Top 11 Tracks of my Tears, Adam Lambert - Top 10 Papa was a Rolling Stone, Allison Iraheta - Top 10 Ain't No Sunshine, Kris Allen - Top 9 Mad World, Adam Lambert - Top 8 Heartless, Kris Allen - Top 3
