Jason Castro's Somewhere Over the Rainbow is still in the competition. Katherine McPhee's and Kimberly Locke's were both eliminated.
Yes, I'm going to post the stats right before announcing the winner. Last year for the All-Star Idol contestent game, alllll the votes were in and then I posted the results from each round before announcing the winner. It's very interesting to watch the votes come in round-to-round.

Results are in and tallied. Unfortunately, I'm about to leave for work and have a kinda packed day so results might not be posted until later tonight or (eek!) tomorrow but they will be up with full commentary and instructions for Round 4!

Results are in....
GROUP A Summertime, Fantasia Barrino Love is a Battlefield, Carrie Underwood Hemmorhage (In my Hands), Chris Daughtry A Broken Wing, Jordin Sparks Papa Was a Rolling Stone, Allison Iraheta
Performances from Season 3 to Season 8 competed in Group A. Being the group's only male performance, Chris Daughtry's "Hemmorhage" fared especially well, moving on to Round 4. Of all Group A performances, only 1 recieved negative comments from the judges: Carrie's LIAB - Simon said she seemed out of her comfort zone singing a rock song (interesting how easily she delivered 'Alone'). Whether it was Simon's 4-year-old critique or stiff competition, Love lost in this battlefield, being Carrie's first eliminated performance. Opposite (sp?) from the harsh comments toward's Carrie's top 8 performance, Fantasia's "Summertime" on Songs from the Movies night during Season 3 recieved outstanding remarks from the judges (Simon called it magical and Randy said it was Idol's best performance ever). We've yet to see if Pulse will award it the same title that Randy did but for now, Summertime is safe in Round 4. Only one slot remains between Jordin's "A Broken Wing" and Allison's "Papa Was a Rolling Stone". Both performances were well-recieved, especially Jordin's as Simon announced for the first time that Jordin had a real chance at winning (honestly, who else did in S6?). Allison's, while well-revieved was somewhat ignored, as Simon was busy drawing mustouches on Paula's face. Pulse is now willing to give Allison full credit, advancing PWARS to Round 4 and eliminating Jordin's Broken Wing.

GROUP B A Natural Woman, Kelly Clarkson Crying, Carrie Underwood I Walk the Line, Chris Daughtry Papa was A Rolling Stone, David Hernandez Ain't No Sunshine, Kris Allen
We've already enjoyable put Allison in Round 4 with 'Papa' but did Pulse give the same love to David Hernandez's semifinal rendition? Unfortunately, the lowest-ranking Idol contestent in the entire top 64 is cut here. This leaves us with a performance that transformed the original Idol into a frontrunner, a late-in-the-game performance that may have sealed the deal for Idol's ultimate Country star, a re-arranged country classic that got people talking for better or for worse and a winner's breakout moment that warrented a reprise in the finale. With the introduction of the 'whistle note' and re-creating the magic she had with a different Aretha classic in the semifinals, Kelly moves on to Round 4 with her performance of "A Natural Woman". Another winner moving on to Round 4 is possibly Idol's most unexpected champion, Kris Allen and his top 9 performance of "Ain't No Sunshine". That leaves two uber-successful Idols who already competed in Group A - Daughtry emerged more successful while Carrie got the shaft. Chris goes 2/2 as "I Walk the Line" and Carrie is sent home crying.

Group C Without You, Kelly Clarkson Total Eclipse of the Heart, Jessica Sierra Moody's Mood for Love, Elliott Yamin Hallelujah, Jason Castro Billie Jean, David Cook
The first performance from Group C moving on to the next round is by the most popular contestent in the competition: Kelly Clarkson. Her top 3 performance of "Without You" was so good that when Simon was given the chance to talk to Nikki McKibbin after being eliminated, Simon quickly passed over the fallen rocker-chick to tell Kelly again how good she was. The next slot in R4 either goes to Elliott or Jessica. Both performances were given early in the game and both well-recieved. It was Jessica though that showed promise of actually winning while Simon told Elliott that while his performance was vocally excellent, he couldn't win Idol with songs like that. While neither won, America clearly picked Elliott (3rd place) over Jessica (10th place). Today, Pulse further proves Simon wrong, moving "Moody's Mood for Love" to the next round. The final slot comes down to Jason Castro's "Hallelujah" and David Cook's "Billie Jean". Both performances were only 3 weeks apart and gave both contestents huge momentum boosts. Both performances covered covers of the original. Both performances were "non-traditional" Idol performances. Simon called on brilliant (Hallelujah) and the other amazing (Billie Jean). Pulse could only choose one and in the end, the hard-rocking-cougar-bait-winner came up short as Hallelujah moves on to Round 4.

Group D Don't Play That Song, Kelly Clarkson I Have Nothing, Jennifer Hudson I (Who Have Nothing), Jordin Sparks Come Together, Carly Smithson Mad World, Adam Lambert
Two of the contestents in Group D have something in common: they both struggled to recieve praise from Simon. J-Hud had a hard time getting out of Fantasia & Latoya's shadow and while Carly started out the 24 as a frontrunner, she was quickly brushed aside and even performances of "Blackbird" and "Here You Come Again" were underpraised. Their performances in R3 however were shining moments for these belters. Only one moves on to Round 4 - Carly Smithson becomes the least successful contestent in the 4th round as "Come Together" trumps "I Have Nothing". Group D also features 2 pop-belter female winners who didnt become frontrunners until a few weeks into the finals, previously blocked by seasoned R&B women. The performances they have in Group D both came one week after being marked with potential to take it all (Jordin's "If We Hold On Together", Kelly's "A Natural Woman"). Only one can make it to the next round (allowing Glambert's top 8 performance of "Mad World" to move on as well). Though Jordin was told she could take it all after perform IWHOT on Diana Ross night, it was her Group D performance of "I (Who Have Nothing)" that took Jordin into Melinda's league. IWHN moves on, knocking out Kelly's "Don't Play That Song".

Group E A House is not a Home, Tamyra Gray Someone to Watch Over Me, Katherine McPhee Let it Be, Brooke White Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Jason Castro Tracks of my Tears, Adam Lambert
Tamyra Gray performed "A House is not a Home" on top 5 night of Idol's first Season and Simon said it was one of the best performances he'd ever seen on live TV...there are at least 24 that Pulse prefers, eliminating Tamyra Gray's sole competing performance, just as she was shockingly cut a week after delivering AHINAH. It's been proven many times in Idol history that crying after a performance can seriously help your chances at getting more votes (Trias, Jasmine top 4 night Season 3 ( >:(), Sparks, Jordin finale Season 6) - Brooke White also can be included in this group, shedding tears after her stirring take on The Beatle's "Let it Be". Not only does it work with America, it works on Pulse - LIB is in Round 4. After losing "Somewhere over the Rainbow" in Round 2, Katherine McPhee hopes to keep her Top 7 performance of "Someone to Watch Over Me" alive. This performance followed professional performances from Paris Bennett & Taylor Hicks but it was Kat's during American Standards night of Season 5 that Simon said made the others like amateurs. Pulse agrees, advancing STWOM to Round 4. Now, it comes down to Jason Castro's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and Adam Lambert's "Tracks of my Tears". Both performances were 180s for these contestents (Castro picking an old corny standard, Lambert sitting/restrained/falsetto) but according to Pulse, only one is worth of Round 4 status...that performance is...Jason's.

Group F I Surrender, Kelly Clarkson Something to Talk About, Fantasia Barrino In a Dream, Bo Bice A Song for You, Elliott Yamin You Give Love a Bad Name, Blake Lewis
Idol may as well have canceled Season 3 after Fantasia's semifinal performance of "Something to Talk About". The judges and America were completely on board - the unique voice and powerful stage presence were too much for America to deny...she didn't work the same magic on Pulse however, as her breakout performance is eliminated. Elliott performance was so great that it was repeated on the show...multiple times. Elliott sang "A Song for You" for his audition, again in Hollywood and finally again during Love Songs week (top 6). Pulse responds well to repetition, pushing this performance through to Round 4. Kelly sang "I Surrender" on a very controversial week in Idol history. As Justin & Nikki stepped up with great performances (Guarinni's "Get Here", McKibbin's "Mary Jane"), pressure was on for Kelly & Tamyra to keep it up and compete against the once-easily-beatable competitors. Kelly prevailed on Idol and in this competition, moving "I Surrender" to Round 4. The remaining 2 performances were big risks for Blake & Bo. Blake's take of "You Give Love a Bad Name" (in front of Bon Jovi himself!) included breaks in the song, beat-boxing and a harder drive to the chorus. Bo Bice's "In a Dream" was completely stripped down to Idol's a capella roots. Both were big hits, giving both contestents the momentum to sail to their respective finales (only to ultimately lose to successful female winners). The bigger impact was made by Blake's YGLABN however, moving on to round 4 while Bice's 'Dream' is crushed.

Group G Respect, Kelly Clarkson Making Love (Out of Nothing at All), Carrie Underwood My Funny Valentine, Melinda Doolittle Hello, David Cook Heartless, Kris Allen
Kelly Clarkson & David Cook may have ended up champions of their seasons but they started out below the radar. Both eventual-winners however, changed that with 1 performance. Kelly became real competiton for Tamyra & Justin with her rendition of "Respect" and David shot from being a midpack player to a real possibility alongside Archie with "Hello". Though both performances catipulted these 2 singers to frontrunner status, only one prevails in this competition: Kelly Clarkson's "Respect". Another momentum shifter that may have ultimately gave Kris Allen the win over presumed champion Adam Lambert is Allen's "Heartless" on top 3 night just a few weeks ago. Kris goes 2/2 into Round 4 as Hearltess joines GroupB performance ANS. That means either Carrie Underwood's "Making Love (Out of Nothing at All) or Melinda Doolittle's "My Funny Valentine" is cut. Both women were frontrunners before these performances and while Carrie's simply maintained her status, Melinda's launched her into untouchability (until Jordin sang IWHN). Carrie's glory note midway through her Air Supply cover was too much to ignore for Pulse however, eliminating the eloquent phrasing and unreal control of Mindy-Doo.

Group H Stuff Like That There, Kelly Clarkson All By Myself, Latoya London Don't Cry Out Loud, Diana DeGarmo Alone, Carrie Underwood Always Be My Baby, David Cook
All of these 5 performances were praised by the judges and are remembered as breakouts for these contestents. Latoya London's breakout was probably the most suprising. After keeping a low profile during Hollywood, London burst onto the Season 3 semifinals with this bombastic version of the ultimate diva ballad. While Gina Glocksen, Asia'h Epperson and fellow S3 contestent Jasmine Trias (who..ahem...outlasted Latoya) struggled with the big tune, Latoya faced no problems on the stage, getting votes from America OR Pulse...Latoya's "All By Myself" moves on to Round 4. While the other Group H performances were breakouts, David Cook's "Always be my Baby" was more of a continuation from Hello & Billie Jean. Like his previously cut performances, ABMB is eliminated, leaving Cook 0/3 going into the 4th round. That leaves Kelly's "Stuff Like That There", Carrie's "Alone" and Diana's "Don't Cry Out Loud", all revered as the 'moment' for all 3 top-2-finishers. Coming at all different points of the season (top 6, top 11, top 3), they launched these 3 women into superstar levels (for Idol at least) - Kelly was called a triple-threat, Simon told Carrie she'd be the best selling Idol ever and Diana pushed into the finals with seemingly frightening momentum (her reprise of DCOL during the finale pailed in comparison to her top 3 performance). Though contestents like Carly Smithson, Brooke White, Allison Iraheta & Chris Daughtry have previously bested performances by winners Kelly, Carrie & Jordin, the winners prevail this time, allowing SLTT & Alone to progress and eliminating Diana completely.

Haha, I do actually think it's unfortunate that that is the only performance remembered. I think I like If I Were Your Woman even more. And a Kelly/Tamyra finale would have been so phenomenal, and unmatched in quality in my opinion :).

I can't get too far into it because I'm leaving for work soon but this is how its going to go. The top 3 votegetting performances from each group automatically move in to round 5. The 6th-place performance from each group is eliminated. To accomodate oddly stacked groups however, the 4th & 5th place performances from each group enter Round 4: Wildcard. You will choose your favorite 3 of the 8 wildcard performances. The 4 performances (of the 8) with the most votes will round out the top 16. I'll post which performances are where later.
