I'm guessing group B is the bottom 3. If goup D is the bottom 3, then Kelly Clarkson will be 1/3rd of the performances in the top 9! And only 2 performances in the top 9 would be by male performers.

Kelly Clarkson 2 Elliott Yamin 2 Fantasia Barrino 1 Chris Daughtry 1 Jordin Sparks 1 Jason Castro 1 Adam Lambert 1
Season 1 - 2 Season 2 - 0 Season 3 - 1 Season 4 - 0 Season 5 - 3 Season 6 - 1 Season 7 - 1 Season 8 - 1
Men - 5 Women - 4
Note: After 6 rounds, Elliott has yet to have an eliminated performance. Fantasia, Chris & Jason have each lost 1, Jordin lost 2, Adam lost 3 and Kelly has lost 5.
Note: As Brooke's LIB is #10, the top 10 is evenly split between girls & guys.
Note: It's been 37 weeks of live performances since a female delivered a performance in our top 9.
Note: Most of the remaining 9 were repeated on the show: Adam's "Mad World", Jordin's "I (Who Have Nothing)", Elliott's "A Song for You", Fantasia's "Summertime". Jason's "Hallelujah", Elliott's "Moody's Mood for Love" were repeated but not for votes. Kelly's "A Natural Woman" ended up on Season 1's greatest hits album. That means that Kelly's "Stuff Like That There" and Chris's "I Walk the Line" are the only remaining performances that only happened once.
Note: A Song for You is the only song that has been sung by another contestent on a live show (Ricky Braddy). All others remain signature to the competing contestents.
Note: While Pulse clearly loves these performances, Jordin's IWHN, Elliott's MMFL and Jason's Hallelujah recieved mixed reviews from judges.

Alright, round 7 is done and we now have our top 6! That means only 1 out of every 150 live performances on Idol remain!

I'll present the 9 performances in groups of 3 - 1 performance in each group has been eliminated.
First group: Kelly Clarkson's "A Natural Woman", Kelly Clarkson's "Stuff Like That There", Jason Castro's "Hallelujah"
Second group: Fantasia Barrino's "Summertime", Elliott Yamin's "A Song for You", Adam Lambert's "Mad World"
Third group: Elliott Yamin's "Moody's Mood for Love", Chris Daughtry's "I Walk the Line", Jordin Sparks's "I (Who Have Nothing)

Group 1: 2 performances by AMIdol's original diva and S7's stoner-rocker face off. Simon & co all went gaga over KC's but while Simon & Paula loved Hallelujah, Randy was initially unsure. So is Pulse - Hallelujah is eliminated.

Group 2: An Idol classic vs. an underdog's triumph vs. an unexpected tear-jerker. This round, we have 3 performances that all recieved top praise from the judges (even Quentin Tarentino). All 3 contestents had iffy weeks the week before and recieved a massive momentum boost that would carry them all into the top 3. But like Round 1, Pulse agrees with America, eliminating Elliott's performance (who ultimately placed lower than Fantasia & Adam).

A tricky jazz standard vs. a manipulated country classic vs. a superstar-making broadway ballad. While the performances from group 2 gave all contestents (somewhat) needed boosts, this group of performances had varying effects - Elliott's made him more of a frontrunner while a non-traditional one. Chris's furthered his lead over all S5 contestents and Jordin's propelled her to the top of her season. But like Groups 1 & 2, Pulse agrees with America - they know a song like MMFL simply cant win.

Kelly Clarkson - 2 Fantasia Barrino - 1 Chris Daughtry - 1 Jordin Sparks - 1 Adam Lambert - 1
Season 1 - 2 Season 2 - 0 Season 3 - 1 Season 4 - 0 Season 5 - 1 Season 6 - 1 Season 7 - 0 Season 8 - 1
Men - 2 Women - 4
Note: Kelly Clarkson becomes the final contestent with multiple performances in the game.
Note: 4 performances by winners vs. 1 performance by a runner-up vs. 1 performance by a 4th place finisher
Note: Of the 5 remaining contestents, only Kelly & Chris were still in the top 5 on last year's all-star Idol contestent competition (Fantasia placed 6th, Jordin missed the top 12 and Adam was ineligible...Chris ultimately placed 4th while Kelly emerged victorious).
Note: After losing the crown for the first time, the women regain control with a 4-2 lead.
Note: While later seasons of Idol dominated in the beginning, 3 of the remaining 6 come from the first half of AI while the other 3 hail from the second half.
Note: Half of the remaining performances occurred on top 8 night, 2 on top 11 night and one on top 6 night.

We've made it! We have our final 4! We must cut 2 performances from Round 8's top 6. I have divided the top 6 into 2 random groups of 3 - in each group, 1 performance is eliminated because YOU didn't vote enough!

Group 1 - Kelly Clarkson's "A Natural Woman", Fantasia Barrino's "Summertime", Adam Lambert's "Mad World" - Ok, so this group isn't so random - all 3 of these performances were given on his/her respective top 8 night - Kelly's was 60s week, Fantasia's was Songs from the Movies week and Adam's was Year you were Born week. While Kelly stood on stage, Fantasia laid across it and Adam sat on a stool, all 3 were blaringly effective, as each performance granted safety on the following results night. Though all 3 contestents had an inevitable spot in their season's final 4, one of these performances must be cut from the competition. That performance is...

Group 2 - Kelly Clarkson's "Stuff Like That There", Chris Daughtry's "I Walk the Line", Jordin Sparks's "I (Who Have Nothing)". So while all performances from G1 were performed on the same night, Jordin & Chris share the fond memory of top 11 night while Kelly's big band number came on top 6 night. Either way, these were the performances that cemented frontrunner status for the respective contestents. Again, Kelly/Jordin/Chris all made the final 4 of their seasons but once again, one performance will now be eliminated from the Pulse American Idol All-Star Performance competition. The next eliminated performance is...
