Why does this man not sell records? There are those few, like him and Jack Ingram, that always have songs on the charts, but can't sell a record to save their lives. Don't get it. I can only give you a personal response, not an analytical one. Even though I've liked a number of his songs, I can not imagine sitting down to listen to Craig sing 3 songs in a row, let alone 10 or 12. That voice -- it's terrifying. When I hear him on the radio, at least with songs less awfully-sung than Bonfire, I know I won't hear another one for hours or even days. That's reassuring. Deliberately exposing myself to that voice for an hour at a time? Never. If I owned an album, I would never play it. Actually maybe it would come in handy on Halloween...

I'm just baffled that this song is hitting its stride going into the holiday season, whereas it was a slow riser during the time of year it ought to have been a hit.
It can't help but make me wonder if "Til' Summer Comes Around" could theoretically be a hit if it were first released in March and peaked in July! ;)
Sincerely, Lisping Hibiscus

What's the total at 9,000? I can't believe two top 10 hits and he can't even sell at least 50,000...what was the opening week tally? You forgot about Gary Allan and Montgomery Gentry.

I was sure that both Gary Allan's and MG's latest albums have sold at least 100,000. The last time I saw Gary Allan's numbers, I could have swore he had sold upwards of 225K.

I don't know about MG, but I'd be willing to bet a few bucks that Gary Allan's sold more than twice your 225k number.

The last numbers I saw, Gary was at 450K, and Montgomery Gentry were just over 200K.

Then I'm still confused about that post I quoted earlier. He was implying that Gary Allan and MG haven't even sold at least 50K.

I'm blown away that this song has done as well as it has. My least favorite song out there right now.

This is having a huge week. It looks like it will jump from #10 to #5 next week, passing Kenny and Taylor.

Craig's taking his cue from Reba, by noticing the weaknesses that Kenny and Taylor have been displaying, and wants his shot at a high peak. And so much safer checking out these other threads, instead of being drawn into the madness that's all over the CMA discussion thread. Better to stay away until that cuckoo-house settles down...!

How many have heard an edited version of this on various programs. I've heard "Cranking out Blair and AC/DC" for Blair Garner's "After Midnite" program, and "Cranking out Hank *long pause* And Foxworthy" for the Foxworthy Countdown.
If he was going to edit this to get more airplay, why only on programs like those? Why not send out one for various radio stations? For example, a station whose numbers are 103.3 could have an edit like "Cranking out Hank and 103-3" or the call letters WMEE "Cranking out Hank and 'M-E-E" (Like he did with International Harvester)

^I've only heard a countdown-centric edit twice before: Craig did the same thing with "Little Bit of Life," changing "A little bit of radio goin' boom boom boom" to "a little bit of Kingsley," and Taylor Swift changed a line in "Tim McGraw": "Someday you'll turn your radio on" became "and turn the Bob Kingsley countdown on."

I wish I was making it up.

I would say "kill it with fire!" but you can't fight fire with fire now, can you? At least not unless you're Davis "No, my name isn't backwards" Daniel.

Am I the only one who absolutely cannot stand this song? When will Craig Morgan stop releasing such uninteresting, unimportant party anthems? Yuck; can't believe this is top 5...

Am I the only one who absolutely cannot stand this song? No. I think everyone except Matt B. is tired of this one. It actually would be tolerable if the production didn't scream "lame attempt at aping 'She's Country'." And if Craig didn't scream at all.

I can't stand this song either, or his voice for that matter, and 'That's What I Love About Sunday' gets my vote as the second worst #1 single of the year of the past fifteen years, behind the similarly excruciating 'Amazed'.
If Jason Aldean winds up with the #1 single of 2009 at Billboard with 'Big Green Tractor', with 'She's Country' having clinched the Country Aircheck/Mediabase crown earlier this year, those two tunes will also merit serious consideration for such a distinction.
