Their opening week increase from their last album is almost identical to TDG's.

i'm shocked that it outsold Alice in Chains. Black Gives Way To Blue received dismal at worst, mediocre at best ratings at both Metacritic and Absolute Punk, if I'm not mistaken. (Although they're probably not sappy weepy indie pop emo post-hardcore screamo post-punk enough for A.P. Hey, I love the site, I'm just saying....)

(Although they're probably not sappy weepy indie pop emo post-hardcore screamo post-punk enough for A.P. Hey, I love the site, I'm just saying....) It got 84% from Chris Fallon at AP and he was the reviewer, and that's a pretty good rating. Sure, the fanbase gave it a 44%, but there's no way to tell how many people that rating actually comes from. It could come from one person trying to be a dick. In fact, I just added my rating to it and bumped it up to 61%, so it couldn't have been too many people. As for Metacritic, their combined rating is 70% which is generally favorable, not mediocre. And the user rating is 9.0, which is even better and more telling. The people who gave it bad reviews there are the obvious ones like Spin and Rolling Stone who are always out of touch with reality, while all the positive reviews are almost glowing. Especially AllMusic's review. Erlewine may write a little full of himself sometimes but he at least knows a good album when he hears it. So yes. You are mistaken.

But seriously...I wish the revamped AIC all the best, but I can't say I'm shocked that BB have outsold AIC, so far, from the jdmasta289 popularity gauge, which expands to magazines to radio to video to simple word of mouth. *Edit Although I try to stay away from critical reviews unless they're absolutely awful (which can be entertaining to read) or absolutely great (which can be entertaining unless the author states that if you aren't Jack or Meg White, then.......you suck......)

It seems like a lot of the mixed reviews dicked around the fact that DuVall was the main vocalist and that Jerry Cantrell's vocals were secondary on lead. It kind of made me roll my eyes when a review criticized it as hearkening back to the '90's whenever the perspective of the damn reviewer did the same thing!
I mean, I haven't heard the thing, but at least tell me what's going on with the music if you want me to take the writing with merit.

You can thank a high school football fight for how I know this song. Not too bad to be honest.

You can thank a high school football fight for how I know this song. Not too bad to be honest. Not to be tedious, but can you please post these kind of things in the Nostalgia forum instead of bumping a 6-year old thread? Thanks!

I can't help but wonder if this is an attempt at trolling. Although, this thread brings back some nice memories.

Sorry, joining in the fun too.
This was one of the best rock tracks of 2009/2010, and the subsequent singles from "Dear Agony" were enjoyable too.

This was good, but the highlight from this album was easily "Give Me A Sign".

Oh 2009-2011 the last days of big smashes on Alternative for bands like Seether, Shinedown, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle and others, good times.
