Man, people really like that Crossfade song for some reason. Haha I had noticed you'd been voting against it. I would have voted for "Violet Hill" or "So Cold" over it, but it beats pretty much everything Three Days Grace has ever written for me. And Crossfade's debut album as a whole is a more consistent album than any of the other albums of the three songs left imo as to me it only has one or two meh tracks. I don't like TDG and Viva La Vida and We Are Not Alone have a lot of songs on them that don't particularly thrill me while also having some gems that are better than anything on the Crossfade record.

Easy to pick Crossfade over Three Days Grace, but hard to pick either song from the first pairing because I'd much prefer they both advance to the finals over either song in the other pairing, haha. 8 Coldplay - "Violet Hill" (14-10)4 Breaking Benjamin - "So Cold" (18-6) 3 Crossfade - "Cold" (14-10)2 Three Days Grace - "World So Cold" (17-7)

Semi-Finals
8 Coldplay - "Violet Hill" (14-10) 4 Breaking Benjamin - "So Cold" (18-6)
3 Crossfade - "Cold" (14-10) (I guess) 2 Three Days Grace - "World So Cold" (17-7)
Coldplay better win this thing.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think that's a really fuckin' weird opinion to have. Viva La Vida in my opinion is solid front to back with no bad cuts and WANA is my fav BB album by far. Crossfade has never wowed me.

Semi-Finals8 Coldplay - "Violet Hill" (14-10)4 Breaking Benjamin - "So Cold" (18-6) 3 Crossfade - "Cold" (14-10)2 Three Days Grace - "World So Cold" (17-7) Violet Hill and Cold by Crossfade. I think Crossfade is extremely overrated, however this is one of the few I DO like by them, paired with one of the few I think is just meh by TDG. So there's my justification. Oh and btw. Violet Hill kicks ass. Really close to my favorite on the album. I don't know If I could name a favorite from that album xD

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think that's a really f**kin' weird opinion to have. Viva La Vida in my opinion is solid front to back with no bad cuts and WANA is my fav BB album by far. Crossfade has never wowed me. Yeah I'm aware that it's uncommon. We Are Not Alone is probably my favorite Breaking Benjamin album too as it's the only one I ever bought just as with Crossfade's debut and not their follow-up. I'm not really a big fan of either band (I don't dislike either of them and put them both solidly above Three Days Grace), but I like the highlights on WANA better than anything on Crossfade's album. But I like the average song from Crossfade more than the average song on WANA as I really only like "So Cold", "Forget It", and "Believe" from that record, with a bit of love for "Break My Fall", "Follow", and "Breakdown". The other songs including "Sooner Or Later" don't do it for me at all. While there is maybe one song on Crossfade's album that I would put in that category. As for new Coldplay, "Violet Hill" and "Cemeteries of London" are incredible songs. But compared to their other three albums, which had made them among my top 5 favorite band prior to the release of VLV, VLV to me was a HUGE disappointment, especially given the hype it was getting. And when the title-cut replaced "Violet Hill" as the lead single while VH was still on its way up the chart, I was pretty miffed. And while there are other good moments on the album, their previous discography set the bar too high for me. I'm not saying VLV is WORSE, but I am saying it's less t my liking, and I can get far more enjoyment from Crossfade's debut than either WANA or VLV. And imo, you not liking Crossfade given how much you defend what others might describe as generic active rock bands is a fucking weird opinion to have though after their follow-up album, I would understand you being less enthusiastic about them. But their debut seemed right up your alley. Maybe assuming you'd like it is similar to Cartman getting compared to Family Guy. The three songs that I've heard the demo versions of from Crossfade...if the rest of the album sounds that dark and heavy, I'm gonna like it way more than anything from TDG and BB and more than VLV, but very few records can rank above the first three Coldplay records for me.

The first album by Crossfade was alright, but weak compared to other entries in the melodic hard rock genre at that point in time, and the second album just felt unfinished. I saw them live once and they put on a good show, so I'm not against them any way, but they're far from my favorites in the genre. And while you and others may see the bands I do defend as generic, I feel I have good reasons for defending them and clear differences between them and the ones I don't. It's all subjective and I don't expect understanding, but that's how it is. I haven't heard anything from We All Bleed yet though, I try to keep new albums a mystery until I hear the whole thing.

Also, while I loved the first three Coldplay records too, the fourth had an easy-going, breezy epicness to it that really struck with me, especially when listening to it in my car or in the gym. It felt like a soundtrack to a movie that doesn't exist.

As I've been defending Crossfade and voting "So Cold", I'm obviously not of the opinion that the genre as a whole is generic and worthless even if there are plenty of songs in the genre that i find highly skippable so I think I'm more with you than with the "others" even if I won't defend Three Days Grace for the most part and will leave the latest Breaking Benjamin effort for the others to rip as well with no defense.

I'll defend the self-titled and One-X but Life Starts Now is obviously flawed, although some songs do seem to stray from their typical formula.

These were REAL close.
Breaking Benjamin and Coldplay currently tied at 7-7. I'll keep voting open on that until the next time I log in and if it's still tied, BB wins the tie-break.
Three Days Grace beats Crossfade 8-7 to advance to the finals. Whichever of BB and Coldplay eventually gets in, I imagine the final will be close too.
