The reason why I chose these two records was simply because of the slick, creative production that both of them had. They were bubbling with originality and they were both ahead of their time. And this was before both the Neptunes and Timbaland were both overexposed in production. To me, Timbaland's work with Aaliyah & Missy Elliott will always be his greatest work, and NOT those disposable records with Justin Timberlake and Keri Hilson, etc... The Aaliyah album remains one of the top 5 greatest urban albums of the decade, alongside Kaliedoscope by Kelis & Miss E... So Addictive by Missy Elliott. Ironically both of these also majorly produced by the Neptunes and Timbaland. Go figure. I can't believe that these two records underperformed back in 2001. I bet that if they were released in 2006, they would have been EASY top 10 hits - they're both that good. Plus, both Britney & Aaliyah both used snakes to their advantages in their respective songs. Snake Seductress #1 - Britney Spears Vs. Snake Seductress #2 - Baby Girl Aaliyah As much as I adore "Slave" and think that it's Brit Brit's apex, I just adore "We Need A Resolution" that much more. Sorry. :(

The reason why I chose these two records was simply because of the slick, creative production that both of them had. They were bubbling with originality and they were both ahead of their time. How was Slave ahead of its time when it was essentially Nasty Girl by Vanity 6 from 1982? I'll never understand why people tout that song as groundbreaking when it was just a Prince-esque swindle. To me, it was just a throwback. But maybe it's just me . . . I voted for Aaliyah, though. While I enjoy both tracks, We Need A Resolution is definitely the more progressive of the two.

We Need A Resolution. Although I do love "Slave." EDIT: If I could I would retract my vote and give it to "Slave." It's slightly more consistent for me.

This is hard because even though I LOVE Aaliyah, Slave is one of Brit's strongest tracks imo. I'm still gunna give the edge to "Resolution" though, mainly because the bridge with Timbo+Aaliyah is fire!

Both are terrific, but for now I'm gonna go with "Slave".

"We Need a Resolution" is the better song but "I'm a Slave for You" has the better video. Both songs and videos are very strong.

I like "Slave", but "We Need A Resolution" is a whole 'nother level. Plus, she did the snake thing first. I don't even like snakes like that, but in the video, she looked like a damn Amazonian goddess with all those snakes wrapped around her. I could never!

Not this thread exposing that Aaliyah did the snake first.

Iโll revisit this when Aaliyah is available on streaming. I canโt even find it on YouTube.

Slave 4 u - I pick - just because of that snake thing I saw on LIVE TV. Very brave thing to do.

I'm biased towards Britney (as I always am), but I love both.
