There is no specific adds date as of yet but it is, by the internet buzz and according to HMV to be the band's second single from Burn, Burn. It may be a bit before this hits radio depending on how they feel AYDWSML has done and if it has any legs left to make a late charge on the charts.
Agree this should be second single? Would you pick something else?

I'm almost certain one of the band members said it was going to be "Monkey Brains" and I know the OLP fan boards believe it will be.

I wonder if they might send "End Is Where We Begin" to CHR or Hot AC and put this out to the rock formats. Might make more sense after putting the songs up against each other.

I heard this would be next, and pen I think theyve just been saying the next single will be Monkey Brains because they seem to like it over on the OLP board.
Anyhoo, I wanted Dreamland or Escape Artist, but this is good too

Well I've no doubt they have a bias but I'm pretty sure I read that one of the band members said "Monkey Brains" would be the single. I could be wrong.

That having been said, I wouldn't doubt this would be a single since they left off "The Right Stuff" for this song and it had to have been added for a reason.

This would be my first choice for the next single with "Dreamland" in as my second.

I favor "Monkey Brains" and "Never Let You Go". "Dreamland" is a little too pat for me as a single, and this song has not really grown on me yet.

well my problem with Monkey Brains as a single would be its too weird. It changes a few times, kinda reminds me of The Greatest Man That Ever Lived by Weezer which flopped

It changes a few times, kinda reminds me of The Greatest Man That Ever Lived by Weezer which flopped It only really changes once and that's when it changes from hard to soft after the second chorus, and then it picks back up into the main hard riff at the end. Hardly compares to Weezer. Besides, you know which other song by OLP did something similar? "Superman's Dead". Which song was OLP's biggest hit? "Superman's Dead". Hey, how about that! I'm not saying it would achieve the same success, I'm just saying that it's not impossible for it to do well.

Both 'Clumsy' and 'Starseed' charted higher on the Mainstream and Modern Rock Charts. 'Somewhere Out There' also charted higher on the Modern Rock chart and hit 44 on the Hot 100, their only song in the US to chart on the Hot 100.

I'm talking more globally, and yes, I know "Somewhere Out There" might probably still beat it there, but my point still stands.

It was one of their biggest hits, let's put it that way. And they don't have very many big hits. My point is that the fact that "Monkey Brains" changes direction is not grounds for it being a bad single choice.

Good choice. Comercially speaking, the best. Still, there are two songs from Burn Burn, I would prefer instead of this. I'm talking about "Escape Artist" and "Paper Moon". Two beautiful songs, à la Spiritual Machines era. The problem is that both are far from being radio friendly.

Strange. I don't think "Escape Artist" or "Paper Moon" sound anything like the material on Spiritual Machines.

They aren't exactly similar to Spiritual Machines' material, but both demonstrate that more artistic OLP side.

I'd compare it more to Happiness then since that's a more artistic album and Spiritual is a little more straightforward.

no, seriously the closest thing to Spiritual Machines on this one is All You Did... They'll never make an album as good as SM was, which is still saying alot because SM is my favorite album ever

I just got back from seeing these guys live here at Sudbury Summerfest. They were incredible, every song they did was amazing with the exception of Raine's butchering of "One Man Army" The crowd was nuts too, considering this is a city festival where time limits are strict and since there was a smaller band after on the side stage, the 3-song encore we got out of them was pretty impressive. Here's what they played:
1. Monkey Brains 2. Superman's Dead 3. Angels Losing Sleep 4. Clumsy 5. Innocent 6. Is Anybody Home? 7. Somewhere Out There 8. Paper Moon 9. Never Get Over You 10. The End Is Where We Begin 11. One Man Army 12. Naveed 13. All You Did Was Save My Life
Encore
14. 4 A.M. 15. In Repair/Life mash-up 16. Starseed
It was one hell of a show, and I would definitely see them again. Raine sounded great apart from the One Man Army performance. If you have the chance to see them live, I highly recommend it.

To be fair, One Man Army is a tough song. Although Superman's Dead feels tougher so it might just be because it was at the end of the set and his voice was probably wearing. You're a lucky duck. I am so jealous.

Well it was the way they did it. He sang it in a different rhythm, it's tough to explain. The band also rushed it a little. I donno maybe you're right about it possibly being that they were fatiguing a bit.

This seems one step closer to being confirmed as the next single thanks to Mr. Maida's Twitter.
"no shows this week. preppin for a video shoot."the end is where we begin" video's are a drag!!! videos are a drag!!!videos are a drag!!!"

my favorite Raine story is when I was at the Red Deer college around 95-96(not sure, things are slightly blurry from back then). I was sitting in the bar with some friends and one of the girls at the table went to get a drink. She came back about 10 minutes later and was pissed off that this guy was harrassing her and trying to buy her a drink. So me being a jackass, asked her to point him out and I'd go give him the "business".
I came back a few minutes later laughing my ass off when I realized she had gotten hit on by Raine mutherf'kn Maida and she had NO IDEA who he was. She was embarrased the rest of the night because........
The whole reason we had went to the college was to see OLP. I guess she was too blonde to realize and in her defense she was only there to hang with us, she didn't even like them and had noticeably barely paid attention to the show. For a while after he got married we bugged her that she could have been Chantal Kreviazuk.....if only she didn't have blonde moments or could learn to sing.
