^^Very cool! Hopefully some buzz for these shows will build by the time Kelly's on there, but that will still be exciting to watch. I still want a tour DVD, though.

I went away this weekend and completely forgot about the AMAs. Boy what a great surprise! Kelly's voice was flawless, as usual, but I think this is the best she's looked all era as well. She's becoming such a respected figure in the industry. It's so fun to see a legend unfold before our eyes. :) And lovin AG being at #15 on iTunes!!

I usually only post in the country forum, but I just wanted to say this performance last night from Kelly was spectacular. She sang that song so beautifully. I really love this song, but hearing it stripped down with the strings was just amazing. I can't stop listening to the You Tube clips!

Her voice alone demands more attention than 100 dancers, fireworks, or crazy over-sexed routines. And she seemed to be there for the right reasons--which is to sing and be heard, not to sell albums like most other acts. I'm so glad so many people enjoyed her performance.

Given that AIEW was supposed to sound bluesy/country, and that Don't and Anymore were originally supposed to be on My December, I take even Kelly's own words with a grain of salt; the album's shape may change over time. But it definitely sounds like she's going to have some experiments with an electronic sound on the next record. I'm not a big fan of that, but after IICHY and TDWFA, I trust her to do it well. Although I'd still love to hear more variety in the traditional instruments she uses, the way she's incorporated the horn section on tour. But: calling it "pop/rock" means probably not a huge departure from the last 3 albums. As long as there's a couple of rockers on the album, I'm happy with just about any other style she chooses for the rest.

^ I love love love love loved Kelly's AMA performance! She was breathtaking. So good! She looked cute too!
I thought that Kelly, Carrie, and Daughtry all sounded great yesterday. I enjoyed many of the performances, but I hate when people lip sync so that took points off in my eyes.

Carrie and Kelly fans should never fight - they appear to be friends: From Carrie's blog straight to you. To put it in context, Carrie said the best parts of her AMAs experience happened outside the awards show, and she included that Kelly anecdote. Great Kelly AMA performance! I still prefer "Save You" over "Already Gone" when I rank the ballads on the album and I wanna hear that live. I hope Kelly tours in the Philippines. I already informally made a request with the local concert promoter who brought Lady GaGa. He says it's not out of the realm of possibility :)

Carrie and Kelly fans should never fight - they appear to be friends: From Carrie's blog straight to you. Yeah, that's a pretty good answer to people trying to make drama between Kelly and Carrie. There's nothing there. That's so Kelly, going out of her way to go make Carrie's dinner. Like I said, I think Carrie's actually a little socially awkward sometimes, she has to work at knowing how to act in every situation a celebrity faces, and that's why she sometimes doesn't come off quite right, but I think her heart's in the right place. It's hard learning to be a celebrity if you grew up on a farm in Oklahoma. She needs to be put at ease before she's really herself. Kelly's unusual that way - because of her family situation she grew up as one of those kids who's constantly having to make new friends and trying to make people laugh, and so she's just herself in any setting and doesn't think about how she should act. There's a lot of reasons why Kelly/Carrie comparisons are apples and oranges. They're different people who have chosen different paths.

As long as there's a couple of rockers on the album, I'm happy with just about any other style she chooses for the rest. The first thing I thought of when I read that was her doing something along the lines of "Hook Me Up" (Album) by The Veronicas. They were much like Kelly on their first record, going a pop/rock way, and added electro to their second album, still keeping the rock and pop aspect. I would honestly love Kelly to do something like that. "Hook Me Up" is one of my favourite albums from this decade. I could see Kelly doing it too. Toby Gad worked with The Veronicas on that album too, and made the masterpiece that is "Untouched", and also half of the other fantastic songs on the album, and I think someone wanted her to work with him? It's just perfect in my opinion. I think I'd die if she made an album like that.

I'm glad to hear that she's trying a new (ish) sound for the new record. It seems to me that they've tried to recreate the Breakaway album with AIEW to varying degree of success.
With a new sound, I'm hoping she'll be catapulted back to where she belongs: the top of the pop music charts!

yay!!! i'm happy for a new sound. probably influenced by alanis going electronic last year. she should work with guy sigsworth. i just hope this album doesn't have cheesy crappy fillers like if no one will listen. she needs to get her edge back that she had on breakaway and my december. all i ever wanted is a really boring album.

Besides rap or hip hop, electronic music is the last genre I would prefer Kelly to record. I was hoping for more of a singer/songwriter vibe, like the songs she's been performing during the pre-shows. Hopefully Kelly can add some soulfullness and emotion to a genre that I find sterile and lacking in substance. I definately yearn for the days when RCA is out of the picture and Kelly can record whatever she wants. I think her greatest success will come when she produces music directly from her heart, without the suits at RCA programming for the lowest common denominator.

Ok, I may sound REALLY stupid here but that is OK.....what is electronic music exactly? I think more in the vein of Killers, Eurthymics, Erasure, or the "new wave" sound of the 80's.....is that correct? If so, I wouldn't mind Kelly doing that stuff...
Anyway, beautiful performance on AMA awards!! Goddess bless that girl and her talent.
