easylink.playstream.com/diddy/butmu.rmI like this better than the original but I still am not crazy about it. They're releasing a third single now and a new album over the summer? That's ridiculous.

This has GOT to be hip-hop's extreme interpretation to an old school classic. The difference is that the arrangement is 10 times different from the Stylistics (done in a lushful 3/4 time) and this is done in 4/4! What a BIG diference.
So let me get this straight: her album is currently active and another one is on the way this summer???!! What's the rush?

the thing is i feel like the original did a good job of matching her decidedly weak vocals to the production-- not to say they were both weak, but that they complimented eachother.
the vocals are more annoying here.

im very apprehensive of this...especially on pop, if it even sees the light of day on pop.
I think "Then Ya Gone" or "I Found Lovin" wouldve been better choices...this is too...ugh i dunno

If a new album is released in the middle or end of the summer there's still time for one more single from this album. The question is why didn't they release a third single sooner. Instead they made "Rain On Me (Remix)." They shouldn't release it to CHR-Pop so that it can't get crossover lag and still be gaining on CHR-Pop when they want to release the next first single (which I don't want to have any rappers on).

I love it! I don't care for Blackchild, but he's less annoying on here than on her album interlude. Go Ashanti!
Music videos to both the original and remix will be released soon.

Ashanti is an artist who has to capitalize on her fame while it lasts. People are getting really sick of Murder Inc. and she's the only one who's truly hanging on. I'd say the album should be postponed until atleast late 2004 though if she's going to release a single now.

I say it should be released around when the movie comes out. She could (almost) pull a Jennifer Lopez! However, she only has second screen credits, or whatever, so I don't think she would be able to claim it as her movie.

Ashanti is shooting a movie in LA with Samuel L. Jackson and 3LW's Adrienne Bailon, who plays Ashanti's best friend.
Either way, Ashanti shot the video(s) for "Breakup 2 Makeup" last Wednesday & Thursday in LA.
Should be out before the end of February.
She is pulling one of those "6 months in between singles" act that some artists do.
"Rain On Me" was first sent to radio at the end of August, if I'm not mistaken, which was 6 months ago.
Jay-Z did it between "Girls, Girls, Girls" and "Song Cry" a couple of years ago and Fabolous did it between "Young'n" and "Trade it All", although the latter was a re-work with P.Diddy and on the Barbershop soundtrack.

For Jay-Z, "Jigga That N****" got played in between the songs you named. WQHT played the original "Trade It All" in between.

Josh don't waste my time with more shit like this. The Paris Hilton video had a larger production budget.

This is the first single from her remix album. Seriously? So they are just giving up on "Chapter II"?

Seriously? So they are just giving up on "Chapter II"? Technically, yes. She is releasing a remix album soon, and the third studio album not longer after that.

Seriously? So they are just giving up on "Chapter II"? It was posted that it's not on the Billboard 200 anymore, and another big hit would not guarantee increased album sales. I don't expect a remix album to sell well. Her remixes are nowhere near as famous as Mariah's and Mariah's remix album spent only a few weeks in the Top 100. It was also posted that her Christmas album got beaten by Whitney's Christmas album. I have to say I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years Ashanti isn't popular and her first album sold more than the rest of her albums combined. Ashanti has had remixes with rappers on "Unfoolish" (may or may not be a remix), "Baby," "Rain On Me," and now "Breakup 2 Makeup." Do you think she will ever release a song where the original version has rap?

Oh my lord. This is probably the most disappointing decision an artist I'm a fan of has ever made. This song is PURE PURE PURE crap, I was under the impression the WHOLE time that she was releasing "B2M" from her Chapter II album. That song would of gotten her another #1 or atleast top 5 not to mention the wonders it would of done for her album. And after I heard this new remix and this video its safe to say that this is the biggest piece of crap she has EVER released. I'm actually more convinced then ever that she wants no part of this remix album and is being forced into it. This is beyond upsetting to me since I've been a huge fan of hers since she came out. :'(

I would rather see "The Inc." give up on "Chapter II" and push that remix album now. It's doubtful that any additional single off "Chapter II" can push it back into the top 50, since it's been out of the top 200 since as early as the Christmas season. If she was going to release another "Chapter II" single, it should've been the first week of January. She's been plugging it since then, but "The Inc." hasn't been doing anything for it.
"Ashanti's Christmas" debuted at #167, but later peaked at #160. It should have sold more than what was originally reported, around 25k. At that time, her peak had been #167.
I don't want her to release another regular album unless she's going to work with more producers on it. My opinion on "Chapter II" has dropped a lot lately. Now I'm listening to her debut more.
The general consensus at the Ashanti Forum is that the remix video sucks, the remix sucks, and Ashanti should release the original because the remix will flop. I disagree because I really like the remix, more than the original now, but I agree that it will probably flop. I love the video too. Poor Ashanti.
When did "Rain On Me" go for adds? August 2003? September? Or am I getting it confused with "Baby" in 2002?
