If you read my Country ChartBeat yesterday (or today), you see I picked Barbara Mandrell as the artist I ranked her top hits (along with Lee Greenwood). I will repeat the list here for you: 1. Sleeping Single In A Double Bed-1978-3-11 2. One Of A Kind Pair Of Fools-1983-1-14 3. 'Til You're Gone-1982-1-14 4. If Loving You Is Wrong, I Don't Want To Be Right-1979-1-11 5. Years-1980-1-10 6. I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool-with George Jones-1981-1-08 7. Only A Lonely Heart Knows-1984-1-13 (#2) 8. Wish You Were Here-1981-1-10 (#2) Two items should be discussed at this time: 1. If you notice title #6, I have included George Jones as a participant in Mandrell's best known song. My Billboard Book of Top 40 Country Hits is crediting Jones as a guest vocalist. Since that song is iconic, I played the song in my head. When Jones starts singing his part, the crowd erupts in applause (after all, Country did come from the Barbara Mandrell Live CD). To say Jones breathes life into the song would be an understatement (which is NOT to say Mandrell doesn't). I even played the song on YouTube for confirmation. Because Jones' contribution is prominent in the song, I am pushing Jones up the list to #32 (from #36) with the artists with the most #1 hits. His official list of chart topping singles are: 1. White Lightning-1959 2. Tender Years-1961-chart wise, his biggest hit 3. She Thinks I Still Care-1962 4. Walk Through This World With Me-1967 5. We're Gonna Hold On-with Tammy Wynette-1973 6. The Grand Tour-1974 7. The Door-1975 8. Golden Ring-with Tammy Wynette-1976 9. Near You-with Tammy Wynette-1977 10. He Stopped Loving Her Today-1980 11. I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool-with Barbara Mandrell-1981 12. Still Doin' Time-1981 13. Yesterday's Wine-with Merle Haggard-1982 14. I Always Get Lucky With You-1983 2. Why is Mandrell's best known song ranked last (out of her #1s)? Well, it did spend the least time in the top 40 (8 weeks). Titles #2 and #3 spent a month and a half more in the top 40 while title #1 remains her ONLY multi-week chart topper. That's why those songs are higher on the list. Even the American Country Countdown ranked Country VERY low (#72 for 1981). Her next door neighbors in the year-end list are: 71. Guitar Man-Elvis Presley 72. I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool-Barbara Mandrell and George Jones 73. Do You Love As Good As You Look-the Bellamy Bros. Coincidentally, all of those songs topped the charts that year! Let the debate begin!

Because As She's Walking Away, the duet between the Zac Brown Band and Alan Jackson is the next chart topper in country music, it does two things on this list: 1. The Z.B.B. becomes the 113th artist in history with at least five #1 hits. They are: 1. Chicken Fried-2008 2. Toes-2009 3. Highway 20 Ride-2010 4. Free-2010 5. As She's Walking Away-with Alan Jackson-2010 2. A.J. vaults past Dolly Parton to eighth place with the most #1 hits. Congratulations to both Georgia-based acts for making this kind of history!

The Boot has reported Anything Like Me by Brad Paisley is a double #1 hit on Billboard and Mediabase. Because of it, I have updated Paisley's totals to 16, putting him in the same company as the late, great Marty Robbins, Loretta Lynn, the late, great Waylon Jennings, and Randy Travis (as Jon Solo pointed out). However, Paisley does not move up the list as he became the 31st artist with at least 15 #1 hits and is the 31st artist with at least 16 #1 hits. He will move up when he lands chart topper #17. Congratulations to the new Entertainer of the Year by the C.M.A.!

From what it looks like, the next 5 #1s through the rest of 2010 and into 2011 will come from The Band Perry ("If I Die Young"), Reba ("Turn On the Radio"), Rascal Flatts ("Why Wait"), Carrie Underwood ("Mama's Song"), and Tim McGraw ("Felt Good On My Lips").
Thanks for this list! Looks really good. :)

^Technically, in chartworld, the 12/4 chart and all charts after it are considered 2011. The Billboard chart year runs from December to November.
But I agree that The Band Perry will be the next #1. Rascal Flatts is having a slower week, but I think it's likely because they know they won't go up ahead of The Band Perry, so the label will save its resources and get "Why Wait" to #1 after TBP. I'm not willing to write Reba and Carrie in there as #1's just yet, but they could wind up on this list. Tim has slowed a bit as well, but his current single is having one of Tim's best chart runs in quite some time, so I think it could finish it off as well. Kenny Chesney will no doubt add to his #1 total with "Somewhere With You", and there's a good chance he'll move ahead of Tim in the pecking order, and he could possibly catch Carrie as well.

Since unlike Billboard even though there is no Chart Update sent out but he chart is still tabulated last week and this week does MediaBase have no #1's last week and this week. Therefore according to this printed in the Aircheck Weekly that came out tonight mean Reba never hit #1 on MediaBase and Jason Aldean didn't hit #1 trhis week according to below which was was printted in their Weekly newsletter?
COUNTRY AIRCHECK WEEKLY December 28, 2010
Chart Chat
While no official chart was published this week or last, we congratulate the Valory crew and Reba on earning the most airplay last week with “Turn On The Radio,” as recorded by Mediabase. We also tip our hats to the Broken Bow team and Jason Aldean for topping out this week with “My Kinda Party.”

According to this week's issue of Billboard (p. 49), Tim's three-week stay at #1 with 'Felt Good On My Lips' brings his total number of weeks at #1 to 69 since the inception of the BDS/Nielsen monitoring system at country radio in January of 1990, three weeks more than George Strait.
What I wasn't aware of was that Strait's 18 #1 singles pre-BDS era each spent exactly one week atop the charts.
