I don't understand the hype for this. It drags on for me. (as does the album) Yeah, the whole album is a drag. It's literally a chore for me to listen to 90% of the songs on it. And this will do no better than IWTKWLI on pop, maybe even worse.

And the 10 million dollar question is, what in the hell would possess someone to listen to an album they call a chore to listen? They hypocrisy in that statement is baffling.

Um, because I like to give all albums a fair chance. I don't just listen to something once and make my final verdict on it. It's ridiculous to think that all songs can be appreciated just on one listen. So I've given MOAIA it's fair chance, and yes it has been a chore. So, take your hypocrisy allegations elsewhere, where they belong.

I actually don't have to take them anywhere but this thread, which is where you made your statement. Just as you felt free to make your statement, i'm free to do so as well. So on to the next one!

It's baffling to me when people are convinced Hate U will be nothing short of a failure while Angels Cry would be amazingly successful. Angels Cry may be well written but it's like a 10 second clip that loops for four minutes; it's repetitive and drab (which some might say about H.A.T.E.U. but at least it has a distinctive/noteworthy chorus IMO).

'Angels Cry' is boring. Her vocals are top notch, but that melody gives a crazy sense of déjà vu.

Thought I love Angels Cry, I agree, you can't seal it a hit, and say H.A.T.E.U. won't be because you favor one more than the other.

Adds date is too late. Her album will be gone from the top 20 by then. This is what she gets for working with The Dream for the entire album. It is indeed cohesive, cohesiveness of crap.
Although this song is notably good, I doubt this will do anything. Probably if she sang this song in full voice and not whisper sh!t she's done for most of this CD.
If this does something, she should follow up it up with either Up Out Of My Face, Angel's Cry, Standing O or Ribbon. Then again, those are not immediate hits not unless you force yourself to like them because you like Mariah Carey.
I am still shocked that Mariah came up with this album. I thought her worst was Charmbracelet, probably is, but this is not far from it down there

This also reminds me of Promise by Ciara. I like this more, though, obviously, and hopefully it is a hit. I think the lyrics/message are actually intriguing, it's very true to life I think. I just don't know if the song is catchy enough.

Love this song, but being as the adds date is so late and it's following after IWKWLI, I don't know if it will do anything.
But here's hoping it does.
"I wanna know what a hit is! Mariah please show me..."

Whether or not this is a hit on CHR (I'm not sure it is), this will, no doubt, be big on Urban/UAC/Rhythmic stations, which is the audience Mariah should be targeting being she doesn't feel like keeping up with pop trends that tend to be shifting away from the R&B hey-days of the early to mid 00s.
I personally would have went with 'Standing O', but HATEU isn't a bad choice. I think it will, at least, outperform IWTKWLI.

I don't understand the hype for this. It drags on for me. Glad to know that I'm not the only one who thinks this song is insanely overrated. I think it is, too. IWTKWLI is actually a better ballad, I think.

nah... add date is nothing for Mariah... it is actually telling stations like WQHT...WWPR... B96
"ok! you can go ahead and play the shit outta this now... its official :)
z100 is abit tricky though... they r the deciding factor whether this will pull off on pop

i love this song too, glad it is the single.it is so standout.at least this song is more contemporary than the second single.this actually would have perform better than the second single in my opinion. this song either reach top 10 slowly or flop hard.

Gold - your edit is awesome. hopefully, IDJ sends something like this to radio.... the buildup is great. The remix is also awesome in that will give the song longevity. I'm glad at least they are releasing the song that is by far the most popular on the CD. If only they did that last era and released Migrate. Sigh.
I agree also... it will be a tough road for this one but it has potential. And without solid success at Rhythmic and Urban, Pop definitely won't go anywhere near it.

Good to see they're releasing this next as opposed to some other songs on the album. It is the best on the album. If Ribbon or Standing O were 3rd, that would've ended this era for sure. It's a longshot, but this song could catch on. I do think a radio edit would help as well. It is on the long side for a single, and some parts in the middle aren't necessary. I think the best you can hope for out of this is top 20 on pop. Just let it be a moderate hit to keep the era going. A lot of people are saying this is her best song since WBT, while I like this song, this doesn't have the mass appeal that had. It'll be interesting to see how urban will react to the original and the remix.

so i burned this disc for a coworker who is omg in love with mariah carey blah blah blah...she's 21. A few days have past and i asked her today how she likes it, and she thinks there are some good songs, but it's "weird" to her. She misses her "old" cds. And that coming from a 21 year old. She loves IWKWLI, too.

I absolutely adore this song (shocking, I know ), but I do think it's a little too soft/slow to really become a radio hit. Mainstream taste seems to revolve around instant hooks these days, which I'm afraid this song lacks. But hopefully winter time will render people's mood more melancholic, and they'll grow more appreciative towards this gem. Now if only more couples are splitting up soon!

H.A.T.E.U. and Betcha Gon' Know have so much hit potential. Come on Mariah!

The J Dupree bounce remix s**ts all over this. Would be cool if she made a vid for it.

IMO this is risky as a single, especially considering the f*cked up situation in which this project is. It would have felt safer if they had released something safer, but let's see what happens...

^ Either way, this should've been sent for adds last week??? Why are they waiting so long??? At this rate, the album will be selling like 10 copies in 3 weeks!

Angels Cry is another ISIL, so if pop didn't play that... I agree. I think Angels Cry is a beautiful ballad but I think audiences want a different type of ballad from Mariah. I go back and forth about this song as a single. I think a radio edit is definitley needed and a nice video couldn't hurt. I would have gone with Up Out of My Face as single #3 just because she has tended to have more success lately with her uptempo's.
