T-Boz and Chilli are supposedly reuniting for a performance soon. Confirmed now. TLC TO REUNITE FOR MIXTAPE FESTIVAL 2013
TLC is hooking back up. The group’s surviving members, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas, are set to perform at the Mixtape Festival 2013 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The R&B duo will take the stage during the two-day festival at Hersheypark Stadium on Friday, July 26, and Saturday, July 27. Presented by Live Nation and VH1, the second annual festival will also feature Rev Run & DJ Ruckus, Boyz II Men, Train, New Kids on the Block, The Script, Jonas Brothers, OneRepublic, Hanson, and more. T-Boz and Chilli serve as consultants and executive producers on the upcoming VH1 biopic, Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story. The made-for-TV film stars KeKe Palmer as Chilli, Drew Sidora as T-Boz, and Lil Mama as the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. Tickets for Mixtape Festival go on sale Friday, May 10, at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster. Two-day passes start at $50. www.rap-up.com/2013/04/29/tlc-to-reunite-for-mixtape-festival-2013/

I couldn't believe what I was reading when I read "TLC TO REUNITE FOR MIXTAPE..." Then I read the rest of course. It's funny though because I just recently had a dream that they were releasing a new album. They had changed their name to "TC" and the cover was just a picture of a tree at night which looked like some indie s**t. I'm definitely glad that part was just a dream.

Drew actually does look somewhat similar to T-Boz ... just not in that "No Scrubs" recreation.

In addition to Drake, they're working with Ne-Yo and J. Cole.

Catching up with T-Boz and Chilli of TLC The season of TLC has officially begun — almost. The beloved multiplatinum R&B trio released their last album, 3D, in 2002, some six months after the sudden passing of founding member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, and though they’ve been active internationally, the surviving duo of Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins haven’t toured the United States in years. With the advent of a TLC mini-renaissance of sorts, though — Vh1 will debut Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story, a biopic starring Keke Palmer, Lil Mama, and Drew Sidora, later this year — Chilli and T-Boz will once again take the stage on July 27, as part of the two-day Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania. They also tell EW that they’re working on new music, with Drake, Ne-Yo, and J. Cole planned to join them in the studio. Though family obligations and busy schedules — TLC is also slated to receive the “Legend award” at MTV Japan’s VMA’s on June 22 — are keeping them already occupied, appearing live for select dates was an easy choice. “With the biopic coming out, it all makes sense,” Thomas said. “We always knew, when shooting the film and when it comes out, we wanted to tour in the States.” “There’s a lot of great things coming up lately for TLC and one of the things that we’re known for is entertaining and touring — and so I say, ‘If it’s not broke, don’t fix it,’” Watkins explains. “Like, why not go out again and do what we love to do best?” As for recent recording sessions, “Everybody has shown us love,” Watkins continues. “Not one person has said ‘No,’ and that’s amazing. So we’re just going to go in and demo and demo and figure it out. I talked to Dallas [Austin] today, we’re Skyping to see if I want to do this song that he has. I just left the studio last night. I go in again tomorrow.” Austin was a consistent force on TLC’s previous albums, and is working with them on the new music but they want to make sure that it all feels fresh. “We don’t want to come out with sounds that people are jamming to and used to right now,” Thomas says. Watkins has been in the studio daily, demoing songs and looking for that one hit record: “I’ll know when I hear it and when it’s done.” There’s also the biopic, which both singers have been closely involved with from the beginning, teaching the actors dance moves and giving them an inside look at their own lives. (Watkins even worked on a new routine for Sinora to perform onscreen.) “We just shared a lot of stories with them that actually go a lot deeper than the script to help them understand the script better — you read something and it’s like, ‘Let me tell you the whole story about this situation,’” Thomas says. As always, the group will perform in the absence of its third member, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who died in a car accident in 2002. In concert, TLC has taken to broadcasting images of her on an LED screen behind them — something that they’ll work on incorporating in new and different ways for their new dates. Watkins says she was nervous at first: Would fans be pushed away by the memory or reconnect with it? “It’s kind of a bittersweet thing. Fans are crying because they miss her but they’re smiling because they still see her. We’re rocking the dances at the same time, and she’s still doing her rap.” SourceIM SOOOO EXCITED!!!!

TLC to Perform at Mixtape Fest, Working on New AlbumNext year marks two decades since TLC released its groundbreaking, diamond-selling second album CrazySexyCool. But as the group's two surviving members, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, tell Rolling Stone, 2013 is shaping up to be one of the pop group's busiest years yet. "It really is the start of another chapter for us," says Thomas of the seminal R&B crew's jam-packed year. This includes the premiere of a VH1 biopic this fall (supplemented by a soundtrack with a pair of new singles), a new album in the works (featuring collaborations with Ne-Yo and Drake) and, perhaps most exciting for longtime fans, the group's first U.S. show in years. I'm nervous," admits Watkins of the duo's just-announced appearance at this summer's Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania. "Not because I don't think [fans] will like it. But more so just 'cause it's been so long." Since original group member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes died in a car accident in Honduras in 2002, TLC have toured intermittently overseas. But the VH1-sponsored Mixtape Fest will mark the group's first Stateside show since they briefly reunited at a benefit concert hosted by Justin Timberlake in 2009. "With the biopic being done and all the other things we have coming up, we were like, 'Why not?’" explains Watkins of signing on for the fest, which takes takes place on July 26th and 27th in Hershey Park. "It's long overdue," adds Thomas. Neither member would reveal definitive plans for a much-rumored, full-fledged forthcoming TLC tour. But Thomas all but confirmed it to Rolling Stone, saying, "Trust me. It's going to happen!" Specific plans for the Mixtape show are still up in the air. "We're still in creative mode right now," Thomas says. "That's why I cannot sleep at night, because my brain will not turn off." But Watkins confirms that Lopes will be honored. Specifically, she says, projections of archival footage of the late rapper will appear on a screen behind the stage while the group performs. "It'll be bittersweet because she's not there, but she's still there," says Watkins. "[Audiences] are left with a good feeling, because you see all three of us rock out together." The group has been busy in the studio of late: Watkins was in a TLC session this past week in Los Angeles. The duo re-recorded a majority of their most popular records for the biopic’s soundtrack, laid down two new songs with the help of longtime producer Dallas Austin – both of which they plan to release as singles this fall – and are wrapping up work on their as-yet-untitled new album."Everybody has been so responsive about working with us," Watkins says of the sessions for the group's first album since 2002's 3D. "No one has said no yet." Watching the filming of the biopic – which stars KeKe Palmer, Drew Sidora and rapper Lil’ Mama as T-Boz, Chilli and Left Eye, respectively – was a strangely rewarding experience. "It was very weird," Thomas says, laughing. The singer was amazed by Lil’ Mama’s performance as Left Eye. "I tell you, she transformed into her," she says. "It was spooky!" www.rollingstone.com/music/news/tlc-to-perform-at-mixtape-fest-working-on-new-album-20130501#ixzz2SCbQaEYm

Exciting musical news from them!
I really hope they'd maybe do a one-week LA/NY run for the film (if it's really good!) for Oscar chances (can you imagine TLC as Oscar nominees for Best Original Song!?) before its premiere on VH1.

Well, that's not going to happen but I think you know that. Which is a real shame, too, because the TLC story has all the makings—success, infamy, tragedy—of the kind of biopic Oscar goes for. Instead, production appears to be reduced to nostalgic cosplay and, personally, I don't expect to see the film past Lil' Mama's sneer.

Hopefully they kept Left Eye's raps/vocals in on the re-recordings.

Hopefully they kept Left Eye's raps/vocals in on the re-recordings. I don't see how. If they don't have any rights to their own recordings how can they use Lisa's parts?

Oh, I didn't know if they had rights or whatnot for the old recordings- you'd think that in light of the situation, the ones who do have the rights would allow them for use, but we know how some are when it comes to business.

Why wouldn't they have rights to their own songs?

Isn't it fairly common for artists to not own the rights to their original recordings? Some artists have bought the rights to their recordings, but T-Boz and Chilli don't have licensing rights for their old recordings.

I don't see this song doing much for TLC. You can hardly even tell it's them on the track. I only hear T-Boz and she's borderline drowned out by the backing vocals.

Isn't this release on WMG Japan? They don't have the rights to the original masters, so that means no Left Eye vocals. The girl doing the rap is awful.
