My point was maybe the Cumulus base of listeners isn't the same as stations in the same area. There are 3 AC stations here, but each one has a slightly different type of audience, and they all have decidedly slightly different types of playlists. I see what your saying... but, if Cumulus will add garbage like Tik Tok to their AC stations, im sure their listeners would embrace something like WWFM with open arms.

How is "Tik Tok" being played on Hot AC at all? I was perplexed to see it currently has a large bullet at that format now

Tik Tok on Hot AC isn't so crazy since a lot of Hot AC stations are very pop-leaning and Tik Tok was huge on pop...
However, AC is another story. lol.

"Conservative" doesn't mean homophobic-nor am I convinced Cumulus is "conservative" (in the political or social sense). More likely, they respond to what they feel their listeners wants to hear (or not hear). Regarding the Dixie Chicks, a lot of politically conservative country fans got angry when the Dixie Chicks aired their politically liberal views on George W. Bush. Cumulus banning the Dixie Chicks was about its stations responding to what their audience was feeling at the time-it was about politics & it involved a lot of country fans located in red states. That's completely different than allegedly banning a song because it's sung by somebody who happens to be gay. There's no movement in pop music against Adam Lambert like there was against the Dixie Chicks in country music.
Unless we're talking about widespread hatred for an artist in a certain format (like there was for a brief while against Kanye and Chris Brown at certain points, and like there was for the Dixie Chicks), radio stations would be stupid to not play a song they know a lot of their listeners want to hear. It's even more stupid for a large company like Cumulus that programs all their stations with the same music. They're about making money-not making a social statement.

It's even more stupid for a large company like Cumulus that programs all their stations with the same music. They're about making money-not making a social statement. Cumulus got in trouble for officially banning the Chicks from its stations, and the head of Cumulus had to explain that decision on a senate panel, to McCain, who was disgusted with him. On that panel, Dickey said that they wouldn't do something so official (and public) again, and would leave such decisions to the pds of specific stations. That could mean that there is an unwritten "understanding" that the stations not play Adam. He is not only gay, but hyper progressive, and has complained about American social conservatism in foreign interviews. He's a new artist with one new song. Will it really harm Cumulus' finances if they refuse to play a single song by a single artist? It could also be that, for whatever reason, he's not playing well with their specific audiences, as you say. Or it could be that they simply haven't added him yet, and will do so in the future. It is strange, though.

Everytime I come to see his update I pray to the gods of radio to let it be a good one. Looks like they answered my prayer!
I have a lot riding on this man to succeed if you couldn't tell already.

It is strange, though. In order for a song to not do well with their specific audiences it needs to be tested. WWWQ hasn't spinned WWFM even once to date, they haven't tested it, and they are the ones that added "Carry Out" and "Blah Blah Blah" too. The update today is amazing and he still got a +18 in that bullet from last Saturday's update I can't wait to see tomorrow's update.

Given that Kara is STILL pimping Adam on American Idol, I'm sure she'll give whatever requisite favors she needs to give for this to keep climbing.
Look, I'm not saying the song isn't good enough on it's own, it is, but Kara is beyond ridiculous.

Testing is usually not done on air. I know it's hard to believe, but some people might give this song a listen and say "I don't like it". If those people end up in whatever test sample they gathered up, then it could take a while for them to add the song, if at all.
