LOL, that makes very little sense. Choosing a radio single (Debut radio single, which is uber-important) based on "visual punch"? And two concurrent singles for a new unproven artist is actually a big problem. This isn't GaGa we're talking about.
Bottom line - I highly doubt this was planned and thought out in advance. Somebody effed up royally here.

Yeah, this is a mess. They're pushing one song, but obviously radio is choosing another one. They should probably just pretend FYE never happened.

First we have Katy rejects on Kelly's album, now P!nk rejects on Adam's/Allison's albums, that's a lot of recycling going on. Serious questions: is this due (in part, at least) to the rough economy, and labels not wanting to let money go down the drain? It's standard operating procedure for Idol debut releases. If the artist isn't already a songwriter (and Adam and Allison aren't really songwriters), then the label grabs rejected songs from other artists, or demos they have lying around, to fill the album since there isn't a whole lot of time. Even Kris's single is a reject from another band (and Kris actually is a songwriter). It saves time and it saves money because it's easier to "buy" a song than to create one. Generally if the Idol gets a second album, more original material starts showing up. |

Um, it's been 2 weeks. At least if RCA is pulling the plug on FYE, they didn't wait months to do it. Better sooner rather than later.

Just listened to this for the first time - this pretty much sounds like what it is, a Pink reject. It sounds like a weaker version of something from Funhouse. I don't hear a smash, maybe a decent hit, top 25 or so.

Is Z100 in the AI pocket? I don't follow their playlist so have they supported most of the AI people. I know that they must have had an incentive to add Kris Allen's single right out of the door because they were actually quoted about the "huge phone requests" in Entertainment Weekly. Not likely that it "just happened" that way. Maybe Z100 was already lined up to support Adam's first single until they actually heard it and were less than impressed.
I haven't heard this song yet. Hopefully, it's better than the other single.

His pre-sales on Amazon must be huge if Mayer opened with 300,000 and he has really lagged behind Adam and Susan Boyle all along. |
