#105 on iTunes ??? I guess it's not going to benefit much from the Christmas bump. :( At least it was one of the handful of songs with a positive update on Pop today (+15). What we are seeing is people buying hit songs from 2009 so a lot of older songs are surging. The good thing is that Adam's album is selling reasonably well without a hit single and it looks like it will go gold next month. |

If you look at previous idol albums, they all have experienced huge boosts the weeks leading up to Christmas, in fact, most received much bigger boosts than Adam, but most of them also seemed to crash as the new year rolled around. I actually think that Adam is in a better position than most of the others, because even though most of them saw huge album sales; even Taylor Hicks sold 800,000 units before March rolled around, most didn't have huge radio singles to keep the sales moving. While I think that Adam's sales will slow down, I do think that this song will keep moving up. Let's face it, just like the previous contestants huge initial album sales had little to do with the music on their albums, the same is true with Adam, for right now. This will probably change later on, but the current situation might take Adam longer to put up album numbers that match those from previous years, even though the extra press attention will also help him. |

WWFM is a 2010 song when it comes to those charts and that's affecting its sales on Itunes. I hope they release the MV soon after the freeze and then I think it will return to the top 50 in Itunes in several weeks. |

He sold about 500K of them in the first two weeks, I don't think he sold much at all, if any, after Jan. 1, and I don't think he had any increase in sales after the first week (while Adam had this week,) so I wouldn't compare him to Adam. |

People just LOOOOOVE to compare Adam to Taylor Hicks when they try to discredit him.
Adam is nothing like Taylor. Adam actually has RCA behind him (unlike Taylor) and radio friendly music (unlike Taylor)

Taylor Hicks' debut album has barely sold over 700k to date in the US. While the album was certified that it shipped gold, it sold roughly 800,000 in the US, and it did a lot of that before it was three months old. Taylor, just like most people from AI, saw huge jumps in sales the two weeks before Christmas. It took Jordin Sparks a little over a year to go platinum, she started off selling 125,000 the first week, but with the Christmas bump, her total jumped to 380,000 before the year was out. I'm not comparing Taylor to Adam. I'm saying that most of of the people form AI put up these huge numbers in December, but then their totals fall off in the new year, so it makes no sense to make a prediction based on what they do in December. Also, as I said, Adam has the advantage over a lot of the others since he's getting media attention, and because WWFM looks like it will do well on the radio. Re-read my post, no where do I try to discredit Adam nor do I compare him to Taylor. |

For all the media interest Adam generates, there's one very big obstacle that he has that no one else of his caliber does, and that is the fact that he is openly gay. If you think that's not a factor in ANY aspect of his career, than you are sadly mistaken. I've seen countless anecdotes of parents refusing to let their kids buy Adam's CD because he is gay. It happens.
I'm very curious to see what the WWFM video does for this song. Adam said that it is from his lover's perspective, is "intense," depicts Adam as himself, and they show "fighting" between Adam and his lover which would presumably mean they're portraying a gay relationship in this video. That's rarely been done in the mainstream. The only ones I can think of are these:
Matt Alber's video actually won an Out Music Award for best music video of 2009.
And of course this, but the singer wasn't actually portrayed in a gay relationship. There was just a gay couple in it. I remember when this came out, and it was a huge, huge deal that they showed the gay couple kissing. It won a GLAAD Media award:

To be completely honest, I'm really nervous about this video. Knowing what we do about it, it probably is going to be completely different from anything we've seen in pop music previously.
It could go one of two ways. If it's a well-done, well-produced video, it could be groundbreaking (and heartbreaking, I have a feeling). It could do wonders for the song's popularity. It could be what sends the song to #1. On the other hand, if the video looks cheap, rushed and/or cheesy, I don't know what will happen. It may hurt the song. What could've been groundbreaking will just be seen as "meh". A huge opportunity will have been lost.
Regardless of the quality of the video, there will still be backlash if a gay relationship is indeed portrayed. As sad as that makes me, I expect it. Sometimes I think our country is going backward rather than forward :(
Bottom line is, this video needs to be good.

Even if the video is controversial or bad I don't think it will hurt him or the song. WWFM is too far along now on radio for homophobia to cause it to flop.

Please, I hate it that we're all trying to portray Lambert as an innovator of modern times. He is certainly not. He is a gimmick and a disposable male GaGa bandwagon-jumper. He's not matching the hype and sooner or later it won't only be his penis that meets a messy end.
