Yea, and David's first single wasn't a flop like FYE. lol His second single did but at that point Jive had already made a decent profit with 750k albums and a double platinum single so they didn't have to push for a third single.

Adam will need many many many more singles and huge albums sales just to make up for the insane amount of money that has been spent on him.

Well, they didn't the last time he asked. It's true--a lot of Idol fan bases are like that, but in my experience, most of those fan bases, after they get scolded or something bad happens due to that behavior, wise up and calm down. So far that hasn't happened with Adam's more OTT fans.

True, but it wasn't Canada last time right? This is the first time there. So if they stop the madness all will be well. I may be wrong, of course. I just don't see RCA letting anything stop the train right now. Maybe having this rep will catch up him when/if RCA ever stops working his songs hard? I dunno. I guess we'll see. I'd be surprised if anything stuck long term.

If it's not a big deal then Adam should stop tweeting about it. He's getting the impression it is a big deal, obviously, from somewhere.

And, really, it is a big deal, whether it comes from one OTT fan, or several. I've seen other labels send out word to fans of artists telling them to not plan requesting campaigns and not to over-do requesting. They think it's a problem, and Adam thinks it's a problem, so maybe his fans should think it's a problem too, and work to spread the word to stop whoever is doing it rather than simply saying, "oh well, Adam isn't the only guy with OTT fans."

I was more talking about his fan base as a whole. His Canadian fans are online as well--I'm guessing they follow Adam on Twitter. I wasn't talking about whether this instance would hurt him more because it's happened before. Just that some of his OTT fans aren't getting the message.

It's obvious it wasn't supposed to act like #1 in the early stages because he's a new artist, because of the freeze, because FYE failed and because he's gay and stations aren't adding this as fast as they should, but once those stations do finally get aboard, I think it will get to the top 10 and hopefully to #1 as well.

Yes all those listed factors do come into play though I certainly hope Adam's successes and setbacks aren't only define by his sexuality because it wont be true. Instead let this man sing and everything else will fall into place.
We all want big things for our favs but sometimes some folks do need to dial it down, exhibit his latest tweet. There's only one way left to go at the top, he can ascend the throne don't act like he already had it reserved. I'm not saying it can't be number 1, but based on many factors already posted don't know if it is.

The listed factors are the reason why he has less adds than Bieber, Ke$ha, and The Script right now imo.

He has over 20 less stations spinning than Bieber and Ke$ha have and until those stations start spinning too like they should, I don't think we can say that his sexuality isn't a factor. It shouldn't be, but it is due to those PDs and it was in FYE's case too.

I hope he gets great adds today after a third +100 update in a row, he deserves those adds today.. do you hear that, Cumulus?

We'll never know how his sexuality factors into all of it. IMO it has helped him more than it has hurt him since he came off the show. Almost all of his hype was built around it. The other factors you mentioned like being a new artist, being an Idol alum, the holiday freeze and the first single failing seem more likely causes of his relatively low number of total adds. Actually, for a new artist his adds have been pretty great, particularly in the big markets.

Really? I can think of many examples when new artists had better adds by the time they enter the top 30 or top 20.. Bieber with "One Time" and LLWD are two recent ones that come to mind.

LLWD was released like 2 weeks before before WWFM and got more early adds but WWFM is gaining and should jump over it soon so it's not always the case. early adds help but it's all about how the songs perform on the radio on the long run.
