Since The Isley Brothers recently signed with Def Jam Classics, Patti and Ron have recorded a duet which will be included on a re-release of her album. This is supposed to be the second single from "Timeless Journey". It's currently one of the greatest gainers at Urban AC. Personally I think this is a very stupid idea. There were other great songs she could have released rather than re-releasing her album (what artist of her calibre does this anyway) and releasing a song to promote the newest artist signed to the same label as her.

DAMMIT! I hate these re-releases. I already have and love her album, why should I be punished for buying it first. >:(
And agreed that there was plenty of other stuff to release. "2 Steps Away" is flawless.

I've been charting it for a few weeks. Been hearing it at WRKS in NY. I really like it, but I pretty much like anything Patti puts out...as long as I get to hear it

I just heard it on WRKS. It's really good. I was a little disappointed by the news at first, but this is right up there with "Sometimes Love" and "2 Steps Away" for me. It definitely sounds more like an Isley song, but it sounds like one of their classics. I think Ernie plays on it. Great great great.

Does anyone have a link to the full song online? I really would like to hear this again. Thanks.

This song is #9 with one of the strongest bullets on the chart. Maybe it will outpeak "New Day". I wish I remember where that one peaked. It definitely didn't hit #1 though. I'd love to see this one get up there. Maybe she will even get a second Hot 100 hit off of this album. I may even like this one more than "New Day" at the moment. I love the old school Isley Brothers sound. Too bad their last album didn't have any of this.

WDAS FM in Philadelphia plays this one just about every hour. I like it, but it is not among my favorite Patti LaBelle or Ron Isley song.

I thought "New Day" peaked at #5 but I could be mistaken. Now "Gotta Go Solo" is #5 and the greatest gainer on the chart.

I haven't heard anything else about it. Now they're saying that this song is just going to be the hype track to the new Isley Brothers album.

So they abandoned Patti's album?
Ugh...it sold respectably thus far. They'd be stupid not to push another single.

Hopefully they just realized how stupid a re-release would be and cancelled it and based on how big this song is at Urban AC, they'll push another single.

Patti and Ron are all the way up to #3 now. They need to release a vinyl and get her another Hot 100 hit!

It seems as if Def Jam has given up on Patti's CD since they feel that it has little to no chance of going gold. Personally, I think someone of Patti's status deserves at least a real second single.

Yes. Seriously, this is how they treat a legend? The first artist signed to the label? That ain't right! >:(

I hope to God they aren't promoting this and that Urban AC is just playing on their own. Why push a song that people can't even purchase on your album?

The vinyl is now out. It would need to sell about 7k copies to debut on the Hot 100.
