Wow, I listened to that Special Music Survey a couple of days ago and actually enjoyed it. Sadly, I didn't hear any Easton or Joe Nichols; instead, I thought it was ZBB. I liked all of the songs, though, especially "Go Time", "Did It For The Girl" (the one I voted for, I think), and "Fill In The Blank" (or was it this one? I found that to be pretty funny). I'll definitely look this artist up and maybe buy his material when I have the chance.

Greg Bates? Didn't know about him. But those songs sound great. All of them. Traditional production and still radio friendly. He could be the next big thing. I specially liked "Filling The Blank" and the last one. That's the one I voted for. Republic Nashville announced they had signed Greg Bates in the December 12 edition of Country Aircheck Weekly. That was the same day we learned that The Henningsens had been signed by Sony. This was from CAW: * Republic Nashville has added Nashville native Greg Bates, 24, to its artist roster. Bates is currently recording his debut album with producer Jimmy Ritchey.Wow, I listened to that Special Music Survey a couple of days ago and actually enjoyed it. Interesting. I didn't hear any similarities between Greg and Zac in either voice or sound, really. But I thought it was Easton Corbin at first and other people said he sounded nothing like Easton, lol I listened again and I retain my belief that he sounds similar to Easton...but hopefully not too similar. When I first heard him (even though I had Easton in my head), I definitely was thinking of traditional country sounds, and so that's why the ZBB comparison never came to mind and I still don't see it. At times, at least to me, Greg sounds a bit like Joe Nichols or Troy Olsen. And like FanofCtryMusic noted, there's also a dose of Brad Paisley in there...not so much with the vocals (although somewhat), but mostly with the production on the songs. I came away from that very impressed, though. I liked all the songs a lot, and in the end, I voted for "Hurtin' On Me" just ahead of "Go Time" and "Fill In The Blank". I bet they are testing these songs to maybe see which one could be his debut single. I'll root for it no matter what they decide on, because each of the 5 songs sounded great and would have a good chance at doing well as a debut single.

Thanks for the update - if that's the case then I'm happy to hear it! If Jo Dee doesn't put out a solid album of new material soon she'll become irrelevant at radio and will never enjoy the career she once had, which will be sad. I like her and hope she can take it somewhere.

I used to like her as well, but I'm sorry to say that since nothing from her last album did anything, that I am sure that her career is over.
IMO, she hasnt released anything with quality material since Burn.

Yay! I love her country albums! Success or not, I'm glad she still keeps putting them out. Shame she can't get another hit on country radio though. Her two country albums have both been full of great music.

Her two country albums have both been full of great music. They probably heard new material and decided to get back in the business of working with her. That site still has Steel Magnolia too which is interesting because they were reported as being gone. The label obviously has about 5 acts for each branch so Republic and BMR will soon have their replacement for Steel Magnolia on the site.

BM has comedienne Melissa Peterman, too. She has yet to release her debut comedy album, though.

To be clear, it leaked. She has not formally released anything yet. That said, I hope they have an adds date coming. I like this version.

I'm starting to think that #5 with Big Machine will be Trailer Choir. They're now imminently more marketable with Vinny's weight loss and publicity from the show. Their song "Love Me First" is a strong song as well.

I think it'll end up being a solo male, they need to replace Jack Ingram. Also they've never had much luck with any other solo males right? Dusty Drake, Jimmy Wayne, Adam Gregory all flopped when they were with them...still sad about Dusty as "Say Yes" was a great song.

Adam was great! I'd been a fan of his Canadian career since 2000. I saw him live in NC and really thought he'd make. It. Great voice and writer.

It's just a 'gut' feeling and honestly, I think it'd be just a partnership thing like with Reba/Jewel for the next album/that single and they're a 'duo' now so it'd make sense to replace Steel Magnolia as a duo there.
