I found Frazier River's album at a used CD/game store at the mall once. Tangled Up in Texas and She Got What She Deserves are great.

Miranda Lambert saw this sign fans made that said TAKE NOTES CHRIS BROWN, and she held the sign high, for the entire arena, when she introduced her song "Gunpowder & Lead." She said: "Oh my God, I love that! Can I please hold that? Nothing else needs to be said tonight, ladies and gentlemen. Holy crap, that's awesome. Get a good picture now, put it on Twitter. ... But see, I have to speak my mind, because where I come from, beatin' on a woman is never okay. ... So that's why my daddy taught me early on in life how to use a shotgun, just in case."

Valory Goes Maverick With New SigningThe Valory Music Co. has announced the signing of country vocal group The Mavericks to its artist roster. The group is currently working on an album that will be released later in 2012, marking the 20th anniversary of their self-titled 1991 debut. To celebrate the occasion, Valory has also announced that the Mavericks will perform a private, invitation-only show in Nashville during CRS on Feb. 21. The Mavericks have also been gearing up for the touring circuit in 2012. They recently signed with Creative Artists Agency for booking representation, and they’ll make their first public performance since 2003 at Stagecoach Festival in Indio, CA in late April. The Mavericks won multiple Vocal Group awards from both the ACM and CMA during the ‘90s, as well as a Grammy in 1995. Their body of work contains the chart-topping hits “All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down,” What A Crying Shame,” “O What A Thrill,” “Here Comes The Rain,” and “There Goes My Heart.” The group consists of Raul Malo (lead vocals, guitars), Robert Reynolds (bass, vocals), Paul Deakin (drums, vocals), and Eddie Perez (lead guitar, vocals). Dang! With Scotty and Hunter becoming successful, it looks like Nashville is suddenly finding more teen guys to sign. Who'd of thought? It used to be an "only girls" policy with the under 20 artists throughout the decades. Joel's music sounds pretty cool. I'm listening to it on his Youtube. It has that the modern country formula radio seems to love. He could have a chance!

I thought the Mavericks split up. I hope they're still as awesome as they were in the mid 90s.

It didn't mention recording though, so this is great news. Raul Malo has such an amazing voice, and i really liked a lot of their songs from the 90's. What a Shame and There Goes My Heart are probably my faves.

Natalie Maines’ Own Fans Don’t Like Her Jason Aldean Dig“As far as you thinking I was ever some lover of country music, you just thought wrong,” Natalie tells one fan.Brad Schmitt | Published: Feb 16, 2012 The Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines is no stranger to saying controversial things. Remember a certain overseas criticism of then-President Bush that effectively destroyed the Chicks' country career? Here's what Natalie tweeted during the Jason Aldean-Kelly Clarkson "Don't You Wanna Stay" duet on the Grammys: "Well the good thing about his mic going out is suddenly the song got a lot more in tune;)" And Natalie, who conceded she hasn't kept up with country music recently, then showed she didn't even know who Jason was: "By 'he' I mean whoever the guy was singing with Kelly Clarkson." Dozens of Natalie's own fans called the comments mean. And while Natalie seemed to back off some afterward, saying that every performer can have a bad night, Natalie went on to add that she's not so fond of country music. "Oh I'm sorry I've disappointed you," she tweeted to a 20-year-old fan named Michelle. "As far as you thinking I was ever some lover of country music, you just thought wrong. I've got a handful of country people I like, but I've always been very open about my musical preferences. I liked the Dixie Chicks. "I didn't know I had to sign on for everything country. Music's subjective. There shouldn't be rules. Different strokes for different folks. All the best, N." One country stroke Natalie does like: Taylor Swift. "Haven't seen anybody make the banjo look sexy since [fellow Dixie Chick] Emily Robison. #goodjobtaylorswift," Natalie tweeted.Country Weekly

It's weird, as well known and award winning as they were in their prime, they never even cracked the T10, and only made the T15 once.

Nice to see the Mavericks back and yes very surprising to see Big Machine sign.. You would think something like Lost Highway or and independent "legends" or alternative country label they would sign with. Maybe It's a sign of other surprising, yet good things to come?
Joel Crouse: Go Top 40 Pop Please. Especially here recently with a lot of traditional country based newcomers coming on the scene. Joel has a slim chance of being anything in country music. That line in Eric Church's "Lotta Boot Left To Fill" seems to ring true here..."One Hit Wonders That Never Stick"
Dear Natalie Maines: While you and your Partners in crimes are very talented, comments like that makes me say Good Riddance.
Your Friend, Ryan Roberts

Random Video of the Day Gibson/Miller Band - "Big Heart"The one I remember most from them is High Rollin'. I still hear that one on radio now and then. There was a minor country-rock movement in the early 90s. Kentucky Headhunters, Confederate Railroad, Gibson/Miller Band, Pirates of the Mississippi, etc. All great bands, but none really got a lot of momentum.

I also wanted to post that Bigger Picture Group has a couple new artists listed on their website. In addition to Chris Cagle, Craig Campbell, and the Zac Brown Band, they've signed D. Vincent Williams and Ryan Kinder. While those are the only artists listed on their website, they've also apparently signed singer-songwriter Rachel Bradshaw and former BNA artist Chris Janson, according to the YouTube video below. Former Warner Bros. artist James Otto was also interviewed but he did not perform (the others--Cagle, Campbell, Bradshaw, Janson, etc all did) and did not comment on whether he was talking with the label. He just said he was there to see Chris Janson perform as they'd been writing together.

Nicolle Galyon on The Voice: She reminds me a lot of Deena Carter. Her nerves show a lot in her live performance. The studio version she did is worlds better. For those who missed lastnight's episode of The Voice, it also had two other country artists that were only shown through a montage. A girl named Karla Davis performed "If I Die Young", and another guy named Jordan Rager sang "Chicken Fried". Blake got Jordan, and Adam got Karla. Neither of these performances are on YouTube.

Jaida Dreyer opened up for Dierks last year on a couple of dates on the Jagermeister tour. I didn't get to see her personally, but she randomly started following me on Twitter last year, so I started following her, too, haha. I like her personality, and I'm really curious to hear her music since, if I recall correctly, her Twitter profile picture is her and a mandolin. And if there is one instrument I adore, it's a mando!

^^This is the song she's most recently been promoting. I personally don't find anything appealing about her voice (or this song for that matter) but apparently some people do. www.us1035.com/player/?mid=21817849
