I think it's amazing they managed to push eight singles from the album and none of them are even the good ones.

baloney. So Happy, Bad Girlfriend and Hate My Life are three good singles If you like slices of terrible cheese, sure. "Sacrifice" is easily the best song on that album, and it's sadly the last one. The whole album should've been like that song, but I guess that's not what sold at the time, although rock seems to be slowly recovering.

and you know what's more sad? their sales would have been even better if "All or Nothing" was a single in the states, it's by far the most radio-friendly song from that album..i think it's easy to figure out that even if they will finally decide to release it, it won't be included in rock stations because its by far the softest song of that era

This song's much better than Hate My Life. Well, that doesn't take much. I'm getting sick of all this cock rock.

Hate My Life isn't really "cock rock" as much as it is "I hate everything and the world revolves around me rock" but it's still a great song

Hate My Life isn't really "cock rock" as much as it is "I hate everything and the world revolves around me rock" but it's still a great song "I hate how my wife is always up my ass". "How come I never get laid?". Ohh its cock rock alright.

dude that's like one line in the entire song. The rest of the song isn't like that "B***h, you better get outta the way before I start falling apart"? "I hate that I can't tell when a girl's underage"? "I tell her she's a nice piece of ass"? "So if you're pissed like me"? "Put your middle fingers up in the air, go on and say "Fuck you!"? I beg to differ.

I have to agree. I have "Scars & Souvenirs" and while it's not a bad album and nor is TOAD as a band, I think I'm just getting sick and tired of most of the post-grunge bands in general since so many of them are heading towards the cock rock direction. It seems that almost every post-grunge song I hear now spreads the message "My girl cheated on me and I'm depressed so I'm going to show that bitch what's up by breaking everything she has!"

I actually feel that "Little Smirk", like "Hate My Life", is intended to come across as a semi-novelty song, highlighting the absurdity of how far one could go to get back at someone for cheating (kidnapping a baby, for instance).................though it's still a terrible song as it is and whether it's intended as novelty or not doesn't make it any better and/or spare it from any smidgen of harsh criticism.............primarily because you know many listeners will mindlessly interpret it as a reasonable payback song. Sincerely, Lisping Hibiscus

"Little Smirk" is at least somewhat clever. "Hate My Life" is plain juvenile. "Little Smirk" is also a tad bit interesting musically. "Hate My Life" is just a bunch of I, IV, and V chords. It might as well be out of the '60s.

I beg to differ. 2/5 are "cock-rocky." If the other 3 are, then that means that any song containing rebelling or angry lyrics would have to constitute as cock-rock, meaning that every rock song is. Basically the main purpose of this song is not about random sex.

A song doesn't have to be about sex to be cock rock.

A song doesn't have to be about sex to be cock rock. then like I said if its an angry or rebelling song then it has to be cock rock if Hate My Life is... and most active rock songs nowadays are angry

When you rock do you take your cock out? That is the question.

Basically the main purpose of this song is not about random sex. It's not whether a song is angry or not. It's the tough guy misogynist attitude that makes it cock rock. A song that says "I'm pissed" and "Fuck You" and makes no attempt to be artistic in its expression of anger is likely going to trend towards cock rock. Nine Inch Nails - "Closer" somehow avoids feeling like cock rock lyrically, because there's something very poetic and deliberate about every word in that song. If you want to differentiate the tough guy mentality from the sex anthems of Buckcherry and Nickelback that typify cock rock, then we can say that songs like "Crying Like A Bitch", "Hell Yeah", and "You're Going Down" are wrestler rock or something like that. But the general idea is that these cock rock songs and wrestler anthems aren't the most emotionally and intellectually stimulating songs on the active rock chart.

When you rock do you take your cock out? That is the question. If you do, then none other than Lemmy Kilmister says it'll "please your lady friends." (If Motörhead's song "Rock Out" is to be believed. ;)) It's not whether a song is angry or not. It's the tough guy misogynist attitude that makes it cock rock. A song that says "I'm pissed" and "f**k You" and makes no attempt to be artistic in its expression of anger is likely going to trend towards cock rock. If you want to differentiate the tough guy mentality from the sex anthems of Buckcherry and Nickelback that typify cock rock, then we can say that songs like "Crying Like A b***h", "Hell Yeah", and "You're Going Down" are wrestler rock or something like that. But the general idea is that these cock rock songs and wrestler anthems aren't the most emotionally and intellectually stimulating songs on the active rock chart. This.
