I imagine Ke$ha will do all right with her first week sales, I'm predicting about 60K.

^I don't think that would be "alright," considering how big "Tik Tok" is. After all, it wasn't "alright" when Flo Rida and others with big digital singles debuted with unspectacular album sales. Although it is January, when album sales are pretty low in general...

January is a horrible month for album sales, I'm just hoping Ke$ha passes 50k at this point, which is kinda doubtful considering how large some singles have been, only for their album counterparts to flop horrendously.

Other similar artists took forever to mount really successful eras (including Lady Gaga and Katy Perry-Katy debuted with like...50K with a #1 hit at the time). Gaga debuted with 18 k. The difference is time and trend. Gaga and Perry (and everyone else) were entering a pop-bust era where consumers were completely out of the habit of hearing or buying generic pop. They're 2 of the acts that have helped put the pop franchise back together over the last few years. Since we're all heading back to school in a few days, lets compare and contrast this to the last teen pop boom, 97-01: BSB debut with garbage numbers, NSYNC do garbage numbers, but each album takes off aferwards and slowly but surely puts together some awesome numbers. Then Britney debuts with 120 k at #1? That was Britney enjoying the benefits of the pop fanbase that BSB and NSYNC largely put back together. If she had been the first Jive act out of the box, she would have been the one selling 10X plat off a 20 k debut week. So Katy and Gaga sell big off garbage and then Bieber debuts with 100 k? Same thing. Ke$ha may be in the same position. She sure as hell isnt Flo, a rapper without a rap fan.

GaGa's debut was before Just Dance really took off mind you so it's not really comparable. Katy/Flo/Ke$ha were all/will all be post-hit debuts.

EVen WHEN Just Dance broke out Gaga wasn't pounding out over 100K a week. Hell, even with Just Dance and Poker Face she wasn't. And I also don't think Beiber sold over 100K because of Gaga and Katy PErry. I think he sold that because he appealed to the same young teenage safe pop act crowd that supports Miley. Didn't even Selena or Demi debut with 100K as well? It is a lucrative crowd and I wouldn't say the same one as the one Gaga appeals to. But, we shall see. Maybe Kesha will explode onto the scene with well over 100K sold-I don't think so, but I guess neither of us know for sure. I still say 50-70K.

Ke$ha will certainly have more Pop hits from this record. She might not break out like The Fame did, but Katy Perry numbers are realistic. She only opened to 42k.

Ke$ha does look like she could pull a Flo Rida and have flop albums, but she could pull a GaGa too and have longevity (I don't think so, but it could happen).

The Fame didn't even hit the top 10 for the first time until March 2009 after an October 2008 debut.

Other than these three, the album to be is low-down trashy garbage pop. Coem to think of it, these songs would have been good if sung by other artists. Even Nicki Minaj would do

can't wait to see the numbers when they come out if they do Taylor should have no Problem staying top ten for at least another month especially if she wins the big Grammy Awards she's up for 1/31/2010 and the traditional couple of weeks of boost there after by then fearless should be at 5.6-5.7 million and probably a six times platinum award

^Wouldn't be so sure about that- if that were the case, she would be losing the #1 spot in the post-Christmas week, which, apparently, is not happening. Seriously, some people's attitude/bitterness in regards to her success is kinda baffling, considering how some of their favorites are not necessarily musical wonders themselves. Exactly. We've never seen anything like this in the history of the rock era. Good for Susan.

I don't know if I should make the 3rd or 4th BB200 thread for this week... www.mtv.com/news/articles/1629127/20100106/lady_gaga.jhtmlSusan Boyle Is Billboard #1 For Sixth-Straight Week Lady Gaga takes #2 spot in slow week of album sales for everyoneIt's becoming clear that you can't stop Susan Boyle, you can only hope to contain her. Actually, nobody has even been able to do that yet. The "Britain's Got Talent" star will hold onto the top spot on the Billboard 200 charts for an amazing sixth week in a row, thanks to another 137,000 units shifted, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. And while her sales over the New Year's week dipped by more than 70 percent, Boyle still managed to steam past the 3 million mark in just six weeks. With no other new releases dropping in the last week of 2009, the rest of the top 10 consisted of the usual suspects, all of whom took serious double-digit hits as consumers appeared to snuggle up and avoid the post-Christmas sales. Lady Gaga's equally indomitable Fame moves up four spots to #2 on sales of 82,000, followed by Alicia Keys' The Element of Freedom, which shed 71 percent of the previous week's business while converting another 80,000 fans. The rest of the top 10: Mary J. Blige's Stronger (#4, 62,000, down 81 percent in week two), Taylor Swift's Fearless (#5, 60,000, down 73 percent), Justin Bieber's My World (#6, 52,000, down 67 percent), the soundtrack to "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel," (#7, 51,000, down 43 percent), Black Eyed Peas' The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) (#8, 47,000, down 55 percent), Lady Gaga's Fame Monster EP (#9, 44,000, down 62 percent) and Owl City's Ocean Eyes (#10, 44,000, down 59 percent). It wasn't just the top 10 that experienced major sales drops. In fact, the top 30 albums all had double-digit dips. One of the biggest drops was for the debut from Lil Wayne's Young Money crew, whose We Are Young Money drooped by 70 percent, falling three spots to 12 in its second week on sales of 43,000. Not surprisingly, given its $1 billion worldwide haul at the box office, the score to James Cameron's "Avatar" leaped 72 spots to #31 on sales of 18,000. Things will likely stay put next week, as the only notable release this week is the debut from Ke$ha, Animal. 1 SUSAN BOYLE I DREAMED A DREAM 137000 3119000 2 LADY GAGA THE FAME 82000 2388000 3 ALICIA KEYS ELEMENTS OF FREEDOM 80000 780000 4 MARY J. Wow. Looks like this will be the first MJB album not to reach platinum status. With her age and the sales climate, it was only a matter of time, wasn't it? :(
