ProFM just played Elevator - I missed it so I don't know if it was track or a live version 92ProFM: NEW MUSIC alert at 420 today! David Archuleta gave me a song off his new CD that no one has heard yet. I'm gonna play it at 420pm If you came to our event last week...you heard him do it live!--Do you have guess as to what it may be???--Davey Ahhh - Mike Krompass tweeted a link - as recorded off ProFM - studio Elevator www.davidarchuletafanblast.com/article/16137/elevator-the-studio-version/--------- And re NAVGL - I loved the music but I thought the words were not in character for David - it seemed like a mean way to tell a girl she's not good at hiding her love for her ex. Still, I hope it's a bonus track because it was interesting and a great audience participation song with the Uh oh uh oh stuff - fans did that perfect.

I didn't think NAVGL was mean at all and I liked it much better than PANDA actually.
The studio version of Elevator sounds much better than the acoustic. It's grown on me.

Studio version of Elevator is very nice! I finally get the song with this version. Much better with the drums.

Do you think he's virgin? Why doesn't he market himself as the male Britney Spears? No words. Anyway, the pre-chorus to Elevator is much better than the chorus itself. I love how he sounds in that part. His voice is too high in the chorus for my liking but the song is still really nice. I am looking forward to hearing more from the album.

Anybody--I mean anybody--might have composed that. Unoriginal melody, trite lyrics, boringly performed with nothing at all to recommend it. I have no hope at all this album will be anything but a waste of time if that's the kind of stuff on it. I know his fans WANT to like it--but really, it's awful.

Anyway....I like Elevator a lot. Do I think it's single material? No, but it's a cool track. The tracklist sounds really interesting. I'm so excited for this album!!!

The melody is the kind of thing anybody at all might sit at a piano and mindlessly come up with in a few seconds. This will not be well received. The whole album may well be shaping up as a disaster--if these two songs are typical. I hope not.

Praepos - did you listen to the ballad-ish clip of another song on the previous page? Eman leaked the little bit in a Bubbletweet Yes--that was more like it and I liked the little I heard. David was pretty expressive. I suppose I should reserve judgment on the album based on that clip--but I don't have high hopes.

Elevator is worse than SBL. Not a promising opening for a record. Hope the title track is better.

:o Oh my Gosh! this thread i getting uglier and uglier as the time comes by...What happened?...I see some angst, anger, fear...all in my sweet angel, flawless and stunning BB David's thread...WTF! ??? Ok, maybe just a couple of "concern" people hating on my BB King David's new song...whatevah...HATERS TO THE LEFT ..Don't like it?..Doesn't Elevator melt your popsicle?...well, guess what...suck it, deal with it My dear Praepos...I'm worry for your health. :'(...seriously...chill out honey. Let David grow up and make his own decisions..let him succeed or not in his own terms....Let him be his awesome and fab self, let him sing about elevators, sweet or wet dreams, parachutes, airplanes, balloons, wings, monkeys, trampolines and whatever he f**ing wants ok? Have a nice day...Love you all by the way I'm loving this gift too much

Deal with it? That's exactly what I'm doing. As for David, he can sing what he pleases, delude himself all he wants, and undermine his own talent to his heart's content. The song is still crap. David needs to wake up and smell the coffee. You might do likewise.

Oh praepos...you are sounding like my grandpa Lighten up a bit darling....It's not the end of the world, it's just one song..or maybe two since you don't like SBL either right? ;) My BB David isn't undermining his talent, by the contrary, he is expanding his talent by writing his own songs and using his falsetto more often. He is challenging himself. It would be easy for him to sing the same type of songs like he did in Idol, or generic pop songs written by other people like he did for his debut album. It would be easy to just be a product and be told what to sing and how to do it. But, it is evident that he wants to grow and mature....and that's great Praepos, darling, stop and smell the roses

What's with the darling stuff? I may sound like your grandpa but you sound like a fruitcake.
As for David--talent is as talent does. Anybody can sing falsetto--but you've got to be good at it to sell records. You've also got to have something to say if you're writing lyrics for grownups--and need to avoid Sesame Street-type melodies as well.
But as somebody on another site said so aptly, David can record his farting and he'd have fans gushing their approval. You're proof of that.

Just wanna add - I don't care what the comments are on the traditionally Cookish and now also Lambertish MJ's, nor the place for gripes and scandals, IDF. The Youtube comments so far are about 95% positive. Of course the number of comments is a small percentage of the 3400 views, ratings 103 up to 0 down. And it's too early to tell anything since only fans have listened so far.
Not my favorite song but it does get stuck in my head, and even forced out PANDA for a week.
I'm not worried about the song. A bit concerned about repetition of theme and even words - up, down, tears you up (SBL), tears you down (E), never coming down (PANDA), metaphor parachutes and airplanes. Up and down seems to be this album's hands and eyes.

Violet, diehard fans can always be counted on to leave nice comments on Youtube, but that's no indication that what he's doing is worthwhile. Works for Me might have been his take on what has worked in the past, but belief in himself isn't really working this time around. It may also indicate that celebrity has swelled his head insofar as his latest singles have been self-indulgent. They're also childish, boring and badly sung--and he needs to be told this straight so that he can get back to doing what he does best. If not, he deserves to fail.

Why do you continue to hang around and post if all you have are negative things to say about his career and how he apparently wants to do things? He's not going to go make an album of pretty little ballads for you or an album of all pretty little covers for you.

He's not going to go make an album of pretty little ballads for you or an album of all pretty little covers for you. I might ask the same of you if all you do is praise anything he does. Do you think only positive feedback serves his career? Just the opposite. My hope is that somebody is monitoring these sites and will pick up on the negative responses and adjust the marketing strategy ultimately--and there have been plenty of such responses. We certainly have as much right to an opinion as you. He's a talented kid--but he's stumbling badly. It's also false that I respond only negatively to anything David does. I've been very positive about a lot of his stuff--not just ballads. I loved Zero Gravity. It was a lot of fun, had clever lyrics, and was terrifically melodic. So you're wrong. I'm not calling for "pretty little ballads" but for something that shows a little originality and honesty. It wouldn't hurt for David to do more covers--since that's where his talent really lies. He's basically a fine singer and is just learning to write songs. He needs to show a little more of that famous humility than he seems to be doing by going public with this high school stuff--which he apparently thinks is wonderful.

He's not going to go make an album of pretty little ballads for you or an album of all pretty little covers for you. 1. David may be doing what he wants--but what ever happened to doing God's will? David was gifted with a great singing voice--why is he not using it? 2. The same management that wants him to appeal to twelve year olds thinks appealing to older adults is somehow inappropriate. That's crazy--since David is an adult pushing twenty whose voice is better suited to more mature themes. He needs to grow up--not down. 3. Jordin Sparks was roughly his age when she began her career--and almost at once was given mature material. David's management from the beginning rejected that option. 4. The kind of teen pop material Myley Cyrus has been given is far better written and much better produced. That's what's attracting kids, not this stuff which is far inferior. If David's much better vocals are not being featured, why on earth would non-fans want to buy his stuff?

^^ bad vocals never stopped people from buying other peoples music. lol
And i dont always give him praise or positive feedback. I just dont do it here most of the time. But even if I do, I dont repeat myself ad nauseum. I'm a fan, so its not out of the realm of possibility that I also might tend to give more positive than negative feedback... otherwise I'd probably not be a fan.
I do hope that you do reserve judgement of the cd until you've listened to the whole thing though and not just proclaim him a failure or deserve to fail before you've even heard anything else. Theres always gonna be some songs you dont like and some you do. Thats just the nature of it. You dont have to like everything. But at the same time being overly dramatic in a negative way, isnt really good for anyone. Negativity breeds negativity. -------------------
